How to download background image only, ignore/hide other components
Hi there,
There are several ways to do this.
- The easiest way is to hide all the other items in your frame, and export it by using the “Export” settings in the right panel.
- If it is an image layer: you can copy it and paste it outside of your frame, then export it.
- If the background is a fill on a frame: you can copy the frame properties by pressing
cmd + option + c
, paste onto another frame withcmd + option + v
, scale it to the correct size and export.
There is a way to download a frame’s background image in the dev mode, though it’s not easy to spot. Refer this answer on another post: How do I export a background image exactly as it appears? - #10 by Karl_Jiang1
For me I find the easiest way, and the only way to ensure you are getting the highest available quality image, is to use DevMode and export.
If it is a frame with a bunch of objects in it, the images will not download if you follow this step…you will only get the background.
- Select your frame.
- Enter DevMode.
- Scroll down to the “Assets” panel.
- Use the chevron next to the download icon to see options.
- Here you can select “Source image file.”
IF you want the layers, you could chose that option. But if you are after the background image, this is the only way you can get the original file the designer uploaded!
