File type icons in Recent files grid gallery view

There used to be icons in the corner of each file (Figma/FigJam) but are gone recently. Any way to enable them back? I can see them in tabs and list view but grid view is my daily driver. With most my files named after project name now i can’t quickly distinguish beetween design document and client brainstorming boards. Ugh.

Hi @Marcin_Ignac, Thank you for reaching out about this issue. I understand why you find it frustrating.

I just tested and when you switch to “Show as grid” in the file browser, you can see the file icon appear in the top left corner of each file’s thumbnail when you hover over it.
Unfortunately, it seems there’s no option to keep that icon visible at all times.

I understand it would be helpful to see the icon without hovering over it, so I’ve moved your post to the ‘Share an Idea’ category.
This move will allow other community members who feel the same way to vote and show their support for your thoughts, helping it gain more visibility.

In the meantime, as a workaround, you might already aware but please consider using filters to narrow down your results to Figma design files or FigJam boards. Search for files, projects, and people

If anyone has any additional insights or suggestions, feel free to jump in.
Once again, thanks for reaching out and for your thoughtful input.
