Question

Dynamically loading files - bad for commuters!

James_Green1

Dynamically loading files (DLF’s) is a great idea for good Wifi connection but it’s killed the productivity for 2 hours of my day while commuting.

Prior to DLF’s I would open all the Figma files I needed on my commute and I could work easily and hassle free.

Post release of DLF’s I now stuggle to use the files as Wifi can be bad and have dead zones which means pages won’t load in my files.

*** Feature request ***
Can you add a button in to make the whole file available for offline use please, or if this feature exists can someone reply to me.

I don’t have a direct solution but there is a workaround you could try: open any plugin that needs to load all pages to function or any plugin that hasn’t been updated in the last year or so. Figma would load all pages for the plugin:

Dynamic_page_loading_for_plugins

However I’m not 100% certain they are loaded fully so you can access them offline. You can try and let me know. I recommend you to write a suggestion to implement some kind of offline mode button to load the whole file and post it in Share an idea.

Thanks for the reply and I have shared the idea.

I personally don’t think DLF’s are a good update and feature. Bad for my example above, and when you are on strong Wifi it’s not solving a problem. Worst update Figma has made IMO. Could have spent their time and money on other things like solving the issue of images scaling responsively in components whilst maintaining a set aspect ratio!
