Create one prototype across the pages in a file

Has anyone tried the “Wrapper” workaround mentioned by @Travis12 in this comment?

I was about to give it a go, but this is from 2 years ago, so I’m poking around to see if there is news.

Figured out a low-fi option for linking pages. There is a Figma doc on Adding Links to Text discussing how you can insert active hyperlinks into your prototype that will link directly from the prototype. How this works here would be to grab the “Share Prototype” link for the specific screen that you want to navigate to. This could be on a different page within your file. There isn’t any way to “animate” that transition because it is an instant link. But a work around, untested but theoretical, would be to link to a landing screen on the different page that has an “After Delay” interaction that would trigger the animation once navigation completes. Then continue through your prototype flow on the new page.

Figma is great and i appreciate it, but why Figma isn’t implementing this, clearly a lot of people need this feature and it doesn’t make any sense the way it is right now.

Once again, I pray to the Config Gods that this gets announced this year.

New beta version of 06/27 does not yet have this functionality.

For those who is still waiting for this feature,
the feature is actually there :upside_down_face::

  1. Copy the link to your flow/prototype starting point (see screenshot, “copy-link” button appears only on hover)
  2. On another page, instead of “navigate to” make an “open link” interaction, paste your link, uncheck “open in new tab”.
  3. Enjoy and upvote solution.

Thanks for the suggestion… this seems to be the best solution, but my complaint is that when using the “open link” method it doesn’t feel very seemless… in between you “pages” you get a quick loading screen and it also displays the Figma UI (left sidebar and top bar). Not great if you are trying to present or do a walkthrough where you want to simulate a browsing experience… Is there any way around or setting to at least avoid any of the UI related comments?

Oh, Figma, you never fail to surprise. It’s as if you’re testing how long designers can go without essential features. Linking prototypes across pages? Who needs that when we can just cram everything onto one messy, sprawling page, right? Because, clearly, organization and efficiency aren’t important in design workflows. :joy:

But hey, at least we have video playback now. That’s exactly what everyone was asking for while trying to manage their 300-screen prototypes on a single page.

Can we focus on the basics first, please?

Thanks.

+1 absolutely crazy that this is not yet possible after this feature request being open for more then 3 years.

Raised on January 2021 (!), above 1K likes, at least one new comment appears each single week… And yet no progress? I love Figma for so many reasons, but sometimes it’s a pure pain and grief.

It’s incredible the fact that we still don’t have this.

I’m really struggling with this! When will this feature be available? It’s crucial for us to create complex applications that are currently taking up so many pages in Figma.

Note that the “open link" hack doesn’t work with a keyboard trigger. With that action selected, all triggers are disabled but for On Click and Mouse Up.

I set up an entire project just assuming this was default functionality. Cause why wouldn’t it be? I go to create the “table of contents” and… womp womp.

Can we all agree to start @ them on linkedin with a link to this thread?

I really enjoy working with Figma. I was surprised that this is still not possible. I would like to see this feature as soon as possible.

Been waiting for this for YEARS

This continues to be really painful for our team. Our core product is split across different sections that would be insane to map out in a single page.

When developing a high-quality prototype, I felt it was vital to have interaction with other pages. I have a website dedicated to project components, and I generated a multi select component with dropdown interaction, among other things. I simply wanted to import only the first multi select asset to a different page, where it would be automatically linked to the interactions done on the component page. Do it for us! Figma S2.

On October 16, 2024, such a feature is still not available
