Component interactions stop working when copying an instance into another page

I have a component variant (which includes nested other component variants with overlay and hover prototype interactions). When I add an instance of this component to the same page as the component itself it works great when I preview the ‘prototype’, but if I copy the exact same instance into another page the interactions stop working. I’ve been trying to fix this all day but to no avail. Has anyone else come across this issue before?

Yep I had the same issue to transfer overlay interactions - so common if you need a persistent primary drop menu across multiple pages in your project. It took me a while to figure it out, it’s not very intuitive, you need to create an instance of your components you want to copy, then make sure the overlay interactions are referencing the instances NOT the main components (I had to reconnect the overlay interactions to make sure they are linked to the instances themselves). Next you select those instances, right click → move to page.
You basically need a copy of your main components to set the overlay interactions, and that copy you can send to other pages.

what a waste of time.
If you calculated all of the time lost from all of Figma clients.
i smell a class action lawsuit!

Between the “Work Arounds” which is another way of saying the platform does not work properly; compunded with figmas need for plugins to fix what is boken.

Figma owes me money for wasting my time!

Now i have to pay for 3rd party plugins most of wich do not work as described.

What a train wreck Figma is with ‘0’ accountability to it’s clents.

Figma you grew to quick for your own good. Stock investors beware!

I think the problem is related to the prototype settings or specific characteristics of the page. Try to make sure that your prototype settings are configured correctly and that your components are configured to work on different pages. Also note any differences in settings or component options between pages.
