CMD + L doesn't copy Link to Frame

Figma UI suggests that CMD + L copies a link to frame:

However, when I use the shortcut, I always get a link to the page, not the selected frame. Using the context menu, however, produces the desired result (copy to a selected frame).

Is this a bug?

@Eugene_Beloded I took a look, and I received the expected behavior when using the shortcut. I used the desktop app to CMD + L the link, for context. It linked to the frame directly, and directed there when pasted into a browser tab in incognito mode.

I can’t tell if this may be a superficial issue or something buggy in your instance. You’re on a mac, correct? Can you try clearing your app cache just to see if that corrects this?

  1. Quit the Figma desktop app
  2. Open Terminal.app and enter the following command: rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma/"{Desktop,DesktopProfile}
  3. Try opening the desktop app again

If it still lasts, are you able to show a full screenshot that includes the layers panel? I wonder if there’s something in the frame that can help figure out the issue.

Hey @ksn! Thank you for your response.

I did try to clean cache, but it didn’t help. I made a recording to demonstrate what I’m seeing:

Also please note that I am not the only one experiencing this. My colleagues were using the CMD + L shortcut too, which wasn’t copying a link to the selected frame.

I would also like to point out that CMD + L is shown as a shortcut to copy page link, and in the context menu to copy the frame link. Could this be some shortcut conflict?

Hi! Experiencing this same issue now in November. I am experiencing the issue exactly as OP @Eugene_Beloded described.

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback! Our internal team is aware that this issue can occur within nested frames. Currently, the workaround is to use right-clicking. While I can’t guarantee a quick fix, our product team will consider this for future improvements.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you! Issue is now resolved, though when I was experiencing it still, right-clicking did work. Thank you thank you! :crayon::two_hearts:
