Im absolutely loving Figma, but a real deal breaker for me is that when setting up master text (both as a component and / or a variable) for a variety of ad sizes - when I place one line break in one instance - it then loses the connection and will not be updated when the master is updated.
This is such a shame. I feel like there should be a special character that can be used to break a line of text per instance and not lose the connection to the master.
Thanks for the reply - thats an interesting solution but in my case; i have lots of different banners that are then linked via a text variable or a component, but i sometimes need to override only one or two banners to have a special break. The method above you linked to wouldn’t really solve this scenario. At the moment i’m doing it manually but then i have to remember to also change the text on those banners as they have lost the link.
Thanks for your response! Indeed, as you’ve pointed out, it appears that a manual approach is the only option available right now, unfortunately. The unfortunate thing about this solution is that, I have paragraph spacing in my type styles and it is not the same as two soft returns. The workaround doesn’t respect the type style.
