Allow manual open/close of right panel

I am generally liking the UI3 update, but am finding it a little annoying when the panels are both closed, but then the right panel opens over something I just clicked on.

Scenario: Panels are closed, so I have a larger space to work. I see a button over to the right side of my screen that I need to edit. I click into the button to select a layer, but the right panel pops over it and suddenly I’m clicking on auto-layout options.

I like being able to close the panels and use more of my design, but it defeats the purpose if I can’t easily interact with everything I see. When the panel opens over something I’m working with, I have to stop, reposition my design, and then start again.

Either keep the right panel open all the time, or let me manually open and close them.

Hi @Schweiss_Kelly, I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us! I can totally relate to your feelings on this.

As you mentioned, when the properties panel is minimized and you select something on the canvas, it does open temporarily so that you can adjust the properties as needed.

While there’s no option to keep the panel minimized at the moment, a little workaround that might help is using the Hide/Show UI.
I understand that this might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but this can give you a bit more viewing space for your designs.
