I am using Figma from almost 2 years. It’s a great tool. Previously I was using Windows 10 yet recently switched to Linux(Ubuntu). Figma doesn’t have any official release for Linux. There are some Unofficial desktop versions but they are “BUGGY”. I request you guys to release an official Figma desktop app for Linux.
at least make a Font Helper linux version!
Hey All, thanks for the feedback and sorry for the frustration!
We hear you and will continue to pass along your feedback to the team for consideration, which is why we’ve reopened this feature request topic a couple of times now. Be sure to vote up top! ☝️

+1. Devoted Linux user here who would love an official Figma desktop app and/or Font Helper.
I use linux for my pc and I do design in Figma every day for work. I hope we can have official Figma for linux
Recent changes to Figma have broken the unofficial versions, leaving Linux users now completely dead in the water. Its really not acceptable to not either release some specifications on how to support local fonts, or release an official linux wrapper. It is just an Electron app, so this is not a major effort.
salut j’utiliser Linux pcq mon ordinateur n’est pas assez puisant pour une meilleur performance sur Windows. Et en tant que designer UI je suis obliger de l’utiliser dans le navigateur ces dommage
I never used Linux, and i will never do. But a lot of developers are working on it, and having an official app for them would increase the global efficiency and reliability in projects.
Also, it would not give them any excuse to not do correctly our designs.
+1. Some people on our team use Linux, and the inability to edit text elements strains our workflow. I get that Figma does not want to invest in a fairly small group of its users, but documenting how it should be built would help. I’m sure someone will stand up and build an open-source solution in their spare time.
Getting Linux support would be super helpful, and it shouldn’t be too much of an issue if they’re already building cross-platform. Even getting one personal internally to champion it and/or build a proof of concept would be helpful.
How come there is still no official linux release? Hurry up please, you got the resources! I’m envisioning an electron app with gnome-like custom titlebar controls to set a new standard
Please!! We need a native desktop app for Linux, please!
Releasing a Linux desktop application for Figma would be a great thing for several reasons. Firstly, it would increase accessibility and usability for Linux users, who often face limitations in terms of design and prototyping tools. By providing a native application for Linux, Figma can cater to a wider audience and support the rapidly growing user base of the Linux operating system. Furthermore, a Linux desktop application for Figma would foster inclusivity and diversity in the design community by enabling more designers to collaborate and work seamlessly across different platforms. Overall, this move would demonstrate Figma’s commitment to offering a more diverse and inclusive design experience for all users, regardless of their choice of operating system.
Still they aren’t thinking to release a version of Figma linux. this is really sad and awful.
It’s sad to see that the first post was in Jan 2022 2 years from now and it even says that the guy has been using Figma since 2 years so in 4 years Figma hasnt been able to make support for linux users. Their fonts system is so weird, the font should get attached to the file so when we open the file on another device we dont have to install the font each time to access itm
Same here 💻 Linux please 🙏
2 years old thread and still no update. Things got even worse with the blocking of agents in linux. Please do something, we love Figma and we are here waiting. There are many skilled devs in Linux community. Just work with them…
I switched to Linux full time. Because exhausted about windows and Mac !
I am Senior ui-ux/graphic designer and I use Figma too!
We want a support on Linux. If you do it I know at least 60% of my community will switch to Linux.
So be part of the future of OS and do a port on Linux this will definitely make the things going better for everyone!!!
Hello. I’d like to participate in this topic.
The actual minimum would be to actually allow Linux people to use Figma, at least through the browser with a font-helper.
There are unofficial ports, but apparently they’re becoming unusable.
+1 Need Figma official Ubuntu Desktop app.
did you get any update from Figma for the official linux version ?
is there any update for the linux official version ? should we wait or find another solution ? we really love the tool but most of developpers who don’t work in FANG we don’t use windows ! switch between linux to windows just for cool UI sucks !
As I said, the minimum would be to support Linux for the font-helper for locally installed fonts.
Yes, I need a Figma version for Linux T_T
Voted, we’re gradually shifting towards Linux and we’d love the official app.
For anyone that can’t wait, here is an awesome workaround GitHub - Fmstrat/winapps: Run Windows apps such as Microsoft Office/Adobe in Linux (Ubuntu/Fedora) and GNOME/KDE as if they were a part of the native OS, including Nautilus integration. if set up correctly it’s a near-native experience. I tried it with MS Office over 2 years and it never broke
I’m a Figma plugin developer. The lack of the dev tools in the web version is a major issue for me. I’d love to stay in my Linux environment when developing Figma plugins. Thank you for considering our suggestion!
