How do I select multiple objects without drawing a box around them? For instance if I want to select a few objects that are on top of a bunch of other objects I can’t select all with the marquee because it selects the background objects too.

Hey @dantaylor - the direct answer is that there’s not a way to sift through and select objects sandwiched between (and hidden) under others.

In Figma, you’re able to use the layers panel to maneuver that situation better. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for FigJam (yet, at least).

Thanks for the response. I would love to request the ability to do this.

Affinity Designer and Amadine use the multitouch function where you tap the selected item, hold another finger on the screen, and tap other items you would like to add to the selection.

Other apps like LumaFusion and Vectornator have a dedicated multi-select toggle button that adds other items to the selection when it’s turned on.

I believe implementing either of these behaviors would feel pretty straightforward for many daily driver iPad users at this point.

Hi there! Thanks for your feedback.

I’ve gone ahead and switched from ‘Ask the community’ to ‘Share an Idea’ section to this thread, so the community and you will be able to vote up for this idea. Thanks!

Hi I’m prototyping hardware interfaces which have multiple layers of functions. In our case a FUNCTION button changes the behaviour of other buttons. I really need to be able to identify if one gesture is active while another is started. Think CMD+C. Big Vote!
