Question

More Controller Support

Theo_Tsongidis_Personal

Hello!

Gamedev designers have been adopting Figma more and more into our workflow, and we would love more controller support for better prototyping and navigation options. Some examples:

  • Better joystick radial support. We currently only have up/down/left/right stick movement, but to prototype menus like weapon wheels and radial selections we need more precise input.
  • Hold button + long press button options for D-pad, face buttons and shoulder buttons.
  • Support for swipe gestures on the PS5’s touchpad.

To do any of the above we currently need to jump through hoops and map controller inputs to keyboard buttons through 3rd party software, which is not great and doesnt work for many of the above options.

Thank you!

I feel that the best way to integrate stick radial with the current system would be to have, inside the trigger of the prototype link, which stick used (like we currently do for classic input), as well as a range of degrees min and max. It needs to be at least between -360 to +360 so that there is no blind spot.

Another value (less important I think) would be the analogique value of strength between 0% and 100%.
IMO we don't really need that but it would be more complete.

That being said, a real important feature for the gamepad, would be to be able to hook the mouse on the sticks for all games with cursors.. And of course to be able to β€œclic” the mouse with a button.
