Make text follow a path or a circle

I’m trying to create the text effect in this image. The odometer’s text wraps around the circle very nicely.

Right now I have to use a plugin, but I lose the ability to edit the text afterwards and there is no preview so I have to try a few times to get the text to wrap nicely.

Sketch had a feature where if you dragged a text on top of a path it would snap to it and would follow the path. A similar feature (perhaps with a better implementation) would be very welcome on Figma.

Hey All, sorry for the confusion here!

We officially launched the native Text on a path tool as part of the Figma Draw release on May 7, 2025 during the Config 2025 conference last year.

You can create text layers that follow the path of a vector object, such as a shape or brush stroke. Use this to create text that flows along curves, circles, or other custom shapes.

To type text on a path:

Select the Text on a path tool from the toolbar.
Hover your cursor over the path of a vector object until the text on a path cursor appears.
Click to add a new text layer and start typing.

As you type, the text layer will wrap around the chosen path. You can use the blue handle to determine where the text layer begins. To switch the text layer to the other side of the path, select Flip text orientation In the Typography section of the right sidebar. Hope this helps clarify!

Yes! Its about time Figma rolled out a curve text feature (along path or as per %), so that users don’t have to depend on plugins for such basic functionality.

Modifying typography is pretty essential, when designing web pages or mobile app experiences!

It is indeed a pretty basic feature that Figma doesn’t have, and plugins are not really working as expected ( not editable in real time, letter spacing, font type, etc,…)

I second this feature request. Being able to write along path should be a built-in part of Figma. We shouldn’t need to resort to (sometimes buggy) plug-ins for such a basic feature.

I think this is the one feature that would make me move from illustrator fully to Figma for branding work.

that’s exactly my reason, I only have to use illustrator in 2 cases one is this text to path and the other is when Figma fails to outline my strokes or sometimes it doesn’t have more vector controls like illustrator has when u link anchor points from 2 different shapes

Please please please please do this… I’m a Video Game UI designer, and this keeps us from fully switching to Figma. Photoshop and Illustrator are essential for us just because of this small feature. But I believe a LOT of companies would fully embrace Figma if you integrate this… Current plugins are destructive and it is impossible to edit texts afterwards. We need something simple and easy-to-use built-in Figma.
