Lock a layer without locking its children

I’m curious why you need this? Maybe what would also solve your issue is being able to lock only specific properties like position?

Aha, I just found that I can command-drag to select child layers. This solves my need. The issue I was running into was that dragging selected only the topmost parent layer. Photoshop does great things with layer management, but most of it would be overkill in the context of working in Figma.

I was thinking how helpful this feature would be. Sometimes, you just want to have frames act as organizational/layout elements, but not be interactive. +1!

Create a frame, press F. Now you can fix this frame and all objects that you place in the frame are moveable instead of the frame. This frame you can also select for the prototype without creating a component.

As I am navigating in design and editing a lot of things hovering each others, I would like to fix parent element in order to avoid selecting or editing then directly. Locking all hierarchy is a bit cumbersome and does not help me working with all those elements properly and efficiently.

Is there an option I don’t know or maybe a plan to make figma design evolve in this way ?
