Hello Figma Community, I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been an avid user of Figma for UI design, and I recently encountered a situation where a small enhancement to the stroke feature could significantly improve the user experience. To illustrate my suggestion, I’ve created a visual representation that I’ve attached to this message. Enhancement Suggestion: Currently, when working with strokes in Figma, when i wanted to add a stroke that is not attached to any frame or element, i have to make an invisble frame and make it a little bit larger than the child item. This can sometimes lead to issue while prototyping with smart animate and others. Proposed Solution: I suggest implementing a new gap feature. This would let us to add gap between the elements and storke. Visual Representation: I believe that this enhancement would not only streamline the design process for many users but also contribute to the overall efficiency and user-friendliness of Figma. I’m excited about the co
Hello, I would like to fix this window with palettes, because in large design systems when changing palettes or making any edits must constantly check colors + edit their names, and the constant opening of the window after selecting a frame or object looks not user friendly. I know that now is being developed window of options and variables, but it is in beta and does not have the ability to upload to json, it is 2 approaches, it turns out that both ways of working with a large number of variables is not yet brought to mind. I would like to propose a solution without additional plugins, so that unloading goes to json in both options + there is a fix for the current palette.
We use links to the frames in documentation. Sometimes we need to reorganize the file and it require the frame to be moved to another page. It could be good to save it’s url the same as it was before when we use cut and paste option.
taka
Currently format {{time}} ago is ok, but sometimes it’s needed to see the absolute time when the comment had been pasted. Especially when there are a lot of comments on one screen and it’s important to see which one pasted earlier
“ultra dark mode” setting in the future? Some of us who spend long hours designing would love an even darker [dark mode] option to minimize eye strain in low-light environments.
Sometimes products with sidebar menus need grids for specific frame sizes. It is convenient to use Stretch, but there is one nuance. Column sizes can become decimalized (because the original frame without the sidebar is not divisible by 12). This problem can be solved by compensating one of the sides with indents. In Figma unfortunately this functionality is not available, and should be added I think. On the screenshot I drew a concept of how it could be
I have a coworker who doesn’t name their frames, and I mostly do design system stuff so constantly name everything to make sure things play nicely with variants. Currently, any time I paste a piece of their design into a file I’m working on, the next frame I make gets named something like Frame 8476. This is hugely disorienting when I’m expecting it to be Frame 1! And even after renaming their top-level frame, it still makes my newest frame title be Frame 8476, with no way to get it back to counting from Frame 1 unless I delete what I copy/pasted. Would love this to change!
I’ve created a illustration using FigJam during a brainstorming. I had then the need to use this in a Figma setup… But then the forms could not be assigned variables to change the colors to the DS colors, and then some of the FigJam forms or arrows do not work with the rest of Figma. A better integration to link productions within FigJam to be used within Figma would be very useful.
As a designer creating a Figma file for mobile developers I want to be able to set the necessary export formats for all mobile platforms and for all device screen size once and for all so that any asset I would like to provide in my designs would use the same export formats without having to reset it for each assets
I’m excited to do some blocking out for 2023 and wanted to get ideas out quickly using the FigJam calendar template. Bummer that it just defaults to 2022, when it’s about to be 2023. What if folks on an academic calendar want to plan over a school year, or anyone who has a specific date window, for that matter? It would be great to be able to set some calendar parameters to generate in the style of the existing template - it’s nice and simple. Tried a variety of calendars using the AI generator - all thumbs down.
I’m working on a guide plugin. Adding guides while the rulers are hidden is confusing because nothing appears to happen. I’ve built this plugin in multiple other apps where they all support a way to show/hide guides. In those cases, I show the guides when new guides are added. I’d love to do that in Figma as well.
Long unused plugins can lead to forgetting the product’s usage scenarios, even though it has a detailed description of the portal. Why not consider inserting “user-defined content” in the next line of the plugin?
There are older posts about this, with Figma acknowledging that the feature isn’t available. But as the app continues to push out really impressive sets of new features, I wanna surface the request for the ability to scroll content with a frame that is acting as an overlay. The scrolling stuff works perfectly on a frame, but as soon as you set that frame as an overlay…nothing. I’m working on apps that utilize side panels for additional content, and not being able to scroll in them is a real bummer.
I would love to see a “little big update” that improves the pages panel. Page numbering: Every page should be automatically given a page number that is separate from the page name. This will make it much easier to communicate with collaborators - “see page 6” rather than “see the page titled 'icon + asset explorations 11/3/23 r2.” Divider lines: Many designers use a blank page named “------” to divide pages. I would love to see this as a feature in the pages panel that doesn’t require a blank page.
It would be incredibly helpful if we could set what our color is at the profile level so that every time we go to any board we can retain our consistent color. It’s painful at present, if your approach is to use the same color to help identify your user, to have to change the sticky note color every single time you visit any Figma board. It doesn’t even necessarily need to be a profile setting. Just retaining the last color you selected on any board and sticking with that instead of the random colors it seems to currently be employing on every load.

It would be GREAT if you could add a search field in the Interactions panel. For instance, when I am adding an onClick event to open an overlay, I have to open the dropdown with all of the frames, which are never in alphabetical order (which it should be). I would like to be able to type in the name of the frame in the search field, which will filter down to the frame I am looking for. I hope this is in the queue.
As I designer in a large organisation, I would like to better understand where I can save my files. As an admin or project manager, I would like designers to know where to save their files with more ease in order to make file discoverability better for other team members. The idea: Add a Short Description to Figma Projects, so users can read a quick blurb on what the intention of that folder is.
Often in early stage features, the owner of the Design System may feel hesitant about adding a new component when it’s only instance is on a single page. The Engineer/Designer may make the call to keep the design pattern local, but still loop/re-use the design pattern. At the moment this can be achieved by keeping the Figma component local and repeating it, or not turn it into a component, repeat it, and deal with the time-consuming changes.
I am working on dark vs light modes for my UI and it would be really convenient if my stakeholders could switch modes by themselves. Problem is they have read access only (which I’d like to keep as is) and I realize mode switch is only available if you have edit permission. Any one with similar concern? Any idea how this could be supported (at least to some degree)?
Right now, I’m creating a very detailed wireframe, and I’m using rectangles as image placeholders. When I create a rectangle, inside a group, the new shape jumps to the very top of the document. It repeats again and again. As the document is fairly tall in height, this becomes very inconvenient to have to drag and drop from an ever greater distance. http://somup.com/crf2IVFn91 How do I get shapes to create inside of a section? It shouldn’t go to the very top of the document.
When creating more immersive plugins which require more screen real estate, it would be great if we could pass in a fullscreen: true param to the showUI. It could then expand to take over the full canvas area. Would this be possible to add?
I want to be able to set prototype stettings to mobile to replace web cursors with a tap cursor but not include the device frame. Currently I can only get touch cursor with a frame. Additionally recording prototype in Figma to gif or video would be game changer.
Hi there! Guys, how did you solve 2 problems: export presets (like in Sketch), where I can create my own preset for Web, Android, or iOS. For example: in the Android preset, I have like 5 different png and for iOS - 3, but with different dimensions and suffix names. And second question - assets panel. For example, I created an icon. Set 5 dimensions in Export block → back to the main page → drag&drop from Asset panel this icon and… where is my export presets? Maybe I made some mistakes in my flow and don’t know some “magic” button? I start to use Figma after Sketch and have, as you see, some problems. Would be great to hear some recommendation.
