Be able to select meeting notes font size and punctuation selections so notes can easily be read while presenting (bigger or smaller font, bullet points, bolding, etc.)
Hi! I have enabled Android and iOs UI kits for my Figma files, it’s great! But I don’t need everything. Is there a way to disable components?
I redesigned the rulers’ position in Figma in a way that feels more logical to me compared to the current solution. In the existing design, enabling the rulers causes the design panel and layers panel to shift, which can be disruptive. My design addresses this issue, ensuring that these elements remain stable, and it integrates smoothly with the new UI. Below, you can see the actual design implementation.
I know there’s a few older threads talking about standard templates for orgs and projects. But they’re locked with nothing happening. Can I request a simpler template type? Could it be possible to save a Fig as a ‘template’ so that it forces users to start a new file with that Fig? a .figt if you like. (Sketch does something similar to this, or going oldschool MS .Dotx file type for word docs…). In our enterprise account, we have a lot of users who have full edit rights, but are not Figma super users, so invariably always end up editing the template master. Plus it’s just easier than instructing everyone ‘Duplicate this to your files’… then they ask how, because under the chevron is not intuitive/does not make sense to them. Or we get requests to Edit the locked file from members from other teams. Could look something like this:
When selecting a variable choice it would be great to have a way to quick jump to edit button to open the variables panel that is scrolled straight to the variable for quick navigation
I really miss the old modal that actively told me there are library updates, the current badge doesn’t stand out so i have to look for it. This means that UI has to tell me when they have made changes en creates more room for design debt.
Hi - I would like to be able to re-order and flex instances of a component, so if I have a dropdown list and I want A,B,C to change to C,B,A depending on the feature I dont want to have to break it or create new for that… likewise with fixed widths, sometimes not everything needs to be the same exact with; I use variables and min maxes (especially in tables) breaks things or makes it less flexible, so being able to just change the width in an instance would be amazing. PLEASE
add high five to non-FigJam workspaces
In Illustrator, if you delete a node on a path, remaining nodes on that same path get selected automatically, allowing you to press Delete to completely delete any inner/stray paths which saves you plenty of time. Meanwhile in Figma, you have to manually click on every remaining node on that inner path (unless you guys know of a better way to handle this?). I realize you could click and drag to create a selection box but it’s prone to error if the shape is very complex. Simple Illustrator example:
Hi, I’m not able to type the ellipsis character on any text as I usually do on my Mac. I usually use ‘cmd+.’ and I get ‘…’ quickly. I’ve seen this topic discussed in 2021 and there was no solution. Can it be made a request? It’s really annoying. I know I can resort to type three individual dots, but that is not the proper way, and I refuse to do it. Thanks.
Hello everyone! Following up my last post I propose that something like “only this word” be added to the search filter; I’m honestly quite baffled this is not yet possible to search for an exact word only! We often have instances of e.g. “Header” + “Header_small” in our projects; if we want to collectively select only “Header” it’s currently not possible through the search as “Header_small” will always also be in the results since it contains “Header”. This would be awesome and fix some busywork going through all the search results! 🙃 Edit: Alternatively, change “Match word” - I just checked again in the Firefox search and this is what had me confused in the beginning: in Firefox, “Match word” works like I described above; an exclusive search for that word, if the word is contained within another word it will NOT show up in the search (see screenshots). This is not how it works in Figma sadly 🥺
Seem like a lot of people use Figma to create “flows”, and this would be a lot easier if you could add an un-editable copy (a mirror) of a screen that keeps apprearing in a flow. True linear flows will show the same screen many times, and it sucks to have to make tiny changes to tons of screens.
Please add the ability to copy text from the component description. I write information there on the type of size, color, etc. It is difficult to rewrite it with your hands every time.
Unable to spot the ‘Appearance’ section in the right panel…
Paragraph spacing does not work on a list if it’s a text style. Paragraph spacing works for the normal style but it does not if it’s a text style… Please fix! Screenshot 1 shows when the paragraph spacing is working Screenshot 2 show when the paragraph spacing isn’t working
VS Code has two ways to save a file. The first way is the way VS Code itself, and every extension I have ever used, saves a file. The second I have only ever seen used in the Figma extension. Normally in VS Code, when you go to save a file, you get a system dialog that let’s you pick where the file goes. Figma’s extension could be using this, but for some reason it instead uses a different method, which forces you to memorize the exact path to where you want to save the file, and then TYPE THAT ENTIRE PATH IN BY HAND! For a company that’s central to good UI, this a terrible user experience. And I’m sure it’s easy to fix: just use the normal file saving API instead of whatever strange one your devs found.
I’m using heavily variables and branches when prototyping. but when I’m in the point of ready to merge Figma only allows me to choose one or the other variables it’s not really trying to merge them both into same table. This is a huge setback and takes a lot of time to do manually where errors while copy pasting one by one the names and values is always very likely to happen. At least if we could copy past multiple variables from one collection to another and between files…
As a designer, I would like the capability of drawing flow lines between layers/frames, but also allow these lines to easily be toggled on/off the page, so that stakeholders can easily see how each design frame is connected, but can be hidden when necessary.
Currently, we can only move one file at a time from one project to another. It would be nice to move all selected files to either projects/folders by bulk selecting and adding a confirmation modal box that says: “confirm to move all files” and notify team members associated with.
I design lots of tables and lists. The variant feature makes it super easy to drop in a table component, but if I need to add more rows or delete them, I’d need to detach the instance and then modify the table. Currently the variant master component has a few options for X columns and X rows, which I can toggle on and off. The table variant is also a nested variant, so each row and cell are variants too. However it’s impossible to scale this, if I wanted 10 rows for example. I wish there was a way to duplicate the rows that’s already part of a variant, without changing the properties of it. Or it would be interesting (but probably more complex) to include a dynamic property which can automatically detect the duplication of nested variants. Has anyone come across this need? What is your workaround?
Hi, We all know that loading a prototype is a bit lousy, even if it is in a Preview mode. Can we look into a possibility of turning the frame we are working on into a prototype mode without opening any window. For example, I want to see if I applied the vertical scroll to the correct frame. Instead of tagging the main frame for a new flow starting point and then clicking the preview mode, let me just click a mini icon (like Mark as dev ready) above the frame (preferably with a keyboard shortcut) that turns only that frame into prototype mode in the working window (don’t ask me to eve go to prototype mode tab in the side panel). This way each frame can be toggle, one at a time, into prototype mode without wasting any time and making us look on other window/screen. Please let me know If I makes sense. Thanks
When I invite someone or share a link, “viewer-restricted” should be a default option. The way it is now, I choose “viewer” and have to change it to “viewer-restricted” later to avoid “guests” self-upgrading themselves. Thanks
Hi Figma developers! As part of my work, I have to spend 90% of my time in the Local Variables menu. I have the impression that menu was definitely not made by designers, but by programmers, and that it was done hastily. The tool has not been tested at all and needs a lot of improvements. I would like to see at least basic fixes made, otherwise Local Variables is difficult to use, especially when there are a lot of tokens. Where is the search inside Local Variables? If there are 5000 tokens, why is it impossible to find the required token by name, except by leafing through the list? Why is there a search in the Layers panel, but here it is forgotten? The Local Variables menu has absolutely no memory. Every time you start Local Variables again, you have to hide the spoilers because they are all exposed. And this always takes a solid amount of time. And God forbid you accidentally close the Local Variables window, you’ll have to hide the spoilers from the beginning. Why is the lim
Sometimes it’s a bit tricky to add an existing component into an auto-layout (like drag and dropping a section into a page). It would be nice to have a shortcut to quickly add a component (just like the ⌘ Cmd + E on Webflow, that enable the user to simply add an element to his page).
