Figma Slides: bypass screen sharing

Greg31

Screen-sharing design presentations suck. The low frame rate, low resolution and small screen size ruin the care you’ve put into the design. It makes spending time on slides/prototypes animation useless.

As of now you can send the presentation link, but people unfamiliar with Figma (like clients, executives, devs) don’t really get the follow/spotlight interaction. It would be great if we could have a way to:

  • Lock on following the presenter
  • Disable prev/next controls for viewers.

Basically put people in front of a presentation, without any work on their side required to understand new concepts or models.

Just like Pitch.com
Introducing the focus effect in the player | Pitch
I will discard Pitch.com when Figma launch this function. 🥰

I love creating presentations in Figma but the problem I run into at work (larger enterprise setting) is that generally only our designers are familiar with Figma or have an account. So the biggest issue I face with using Figma for presentations is shareability—unfortunately if it’s a major presentation that I’m giving outside of our design group, I need to do it in Powerpoint because that’s what the organization at-large has access to, knows, and understands.

I think Slides is great so far but I don’t really see a way around having to use Powerpoint with certain audiences at my company. I’m still going to upvote this idea because I think it’d be great to pass out a Figma link and not have the audience skip ahead. And like you, I hate the compression and other problems associated with screen sharing.

Upvoted, and a similar idea is mentioned in this topic.

Hey All, thanks for the feedback!

We’ll pass this onto the Slides team for future consideration.
