Figma Doesn't Warn About Unused Variables Blocking Component Updates

When you forget to use a variable in a Figma component, leaving it created but not assigned to anything, you might encounter an issue when trying to update that component. Figma won’t notify you that your changes won’t apply unless you either delete the unused variable or assign it properly. This can cause you to waste time because it often feels like an update component issue, making the problem less intuitive to identify. Instead of a subtle indication in the ‘Unused Changes’ tab, a more visible alert—like highlighting the component with a red border, shading, or showing a clear warning when pressing the ‘Publish Changes’ button—could make it easier to understand and resolve the issue.

I posted about this before they updated the UI of the library updater, and really can’t believe they reworked it without improving this. It keeps annoying me and making me lose time.
