Change the gradient color default back to how it used to be

It used to be that when you changed the fill on a shape from solid to a gradient, it would make the second gradient color the existing solid color with an opacity of 0%. This was great and really sped up my process.

In the last update they changed this behavior so now it makes the second gradient color some arbitrary darker shade which just adds more clicks to my workflow and some annoyance especially since it used to work better… Is anyone else having this problem?

Was literally about to write a post about how annoying this is. I make a red rectangle and when I hit gradient I obviously want it to be from red to zero - not red to a random darker shade of red. Seems like a total downgrade for no apparent reason. Hope its fixed

Not necessarily? Gradients aren’t always used to mimic alpha masks

Hey All, thanks for the feedback and sorry for the frustration!

We’ve passed your feedback onto our gradients team for consideration and future improvement.

A post was split to a new topic: Frame to Shape

I was looking for a similar topic because I simply can’t understand the UX decision behind this new gradient creation feature. It’s incredibly annoying. Here are my thoughts:

Why would I need a randomly added darker shade for my gradient? I’d prefer to have control over my process instead of giving me the answer which 99% I don’t even need.

For me as OP described creating a gradient from a color is more commonly done by zeroing out the source color’s opacity.
