Thanks for the idea! We’ll pass this along to our team for consideration. Be sure to also Vote up top, so we can start tracking interest from the community ☝️
Come on guys, vote up for this!
I don’t know if I’m the only one, where the “Destination” list for “Navigate to” and “Open/Swap overlay” prototype actions quickly grows to this kind of a mess:
First of all, the sorting by section and then alphabetically is confusing - especially when the list is not sectioned.
But that being said, the list very quickly becomes very long, so I would really like to see some text search/filtering here.
Also I think I would begreat, if you could somehow select to just click on the frame you want to be the destination.
Thanks, I really hope to see something like this as I think this is one of my biggest everyday annoyances when building prototypes.
I just want to put some emphasise on my suggestion to also add a way that you can just click on the frame that you want to be the destination. When I drag in multiple Modal views from our design library they are all just called “Modal view” by default, so I have to rename them to make items in the list unique and thereby searchable. That’s basically just overhead in our workflow - while we await the launch of “Rename my layers” 😉
This is a good idea!
I’d like to have this feature also since I’m dealing with a lot of frames in a single page
This would be really great! We have a large design and the destination dropdown is no longer useful for us.
This is much needed. Even in a small project the number of screens/frames can grow quite large.
It was earlier possible to select a frame based on its name by typing out the name quickly when the dropdown was in focus (like regular HTML dropdowns do) e.g. If my Frame name is ‘Menu’, I can simply type out the keys to the name. pressing ‘M’ would select the next frame in the list starting with ‘M’ and I can type out next characters of the name to get a better match. This was not a perfect solution as a lot of Frame names can start with same word/same characters. And also that we do not remember the names exactly when we hit the destination dropdown but most of the time will remember part of the name.
This however is not working for me now. (I believe something changed in previous release which broke this behavior). Now when for characters which are keyboard shortcuts to other features/action, the shortcut action takes precedence. so in previous example, As soon as I press the third character (‘n’) in the name (‘Menu’), the ‘Next Frame’ shortcut kicks in and the selection jumps to some random screen and there is now no easy way to select the object selected earlier, which is very annoying. So if my frame name las letters mapped to keyboard shortcuts (which is a long list) then its very difficult to select frame this way.
This broken behavior and no way to search and select the frames i want to navigate to is annoying and a time sink.
So a search bar is highly appreciated. Thanks
