It used to be that when you were pulling noodles to create interactions, you’d see the choices for states in the interaction panel. Since the last big update several months ago, those controls have been hidden under a toggle/accordion in the panel. I find this to be a huge productivity annoyance that I have to do an extra click to select “reset scroll” or “reset component state,” or to check at a later time, if that particular noodle has those options selected. Please, please, please change it back to being visible by default or put an option in Preferences, so Figma users can set the view to their preference. Does anyone else feel the same way?
Elements currently don’t stick to bottom in overlays. Cannot see the sticky bottom element unless it is placed in view port, creates confusion within clients or for those who plays prototype in different resolutions.
Hello Comunity ✋i think we need a feature to insert component inside a text or paragtaph. it’s because i was designing a banner and face issue to make it responsive. image of two artboard with different banner layout. as you can see i want to have left artboartd but i can’t do it.i checked all possible ways, but we need a feature too allow us to add a component inside paragraph.
it will work nice to icons without need to outline strokes and keep original icons editable.
Hi! Sharing some notes from a couple of rounds of accessibility testing we did on our Figma Slides newsletter back in September 2024.Issues with video functionality Screen magnification user - Video plays automatically when user navigates to slide - When media must play automatically, the user should be able to immediately stop playback with simple commands. WCAG 2.1 2.2.2: Pause, Stop, Hide Participant using Dragan Naturally could not play video on slide Issues with elements that are only disclosed on hover (left-right slide navgiation) Dragan doesn't work well with elements that are only disclosed on hover Dragan user not sure what slide they are on Overall, Dragan user recommended a different format for the newsletter since they had a number of challenges navigating
Can Figma come up with a way to re-Parent Components moved to Design File so that all the components in the said file can be pointed to the Design File?
There is possibility to do only URL links to selected text. Could be useful create interactions also into selected text only Instead whole text frame. Do you know any way to do this?
Use Case: I have color primitives and semantics in one collection called colors. Id like to move semantics out of that collection and into a new collection called color semantics. BUT what happens currently is you can copy and paste it, but it breaks the link with the (?) for every variable that was previously connected… So copying and pasting does not work. Id like the option to move or rearrange variables in and out of collections with keeping that same variable linked in my other variables downstream.
Commenting Shortcomings: Lack of Context & History Comments are tied to specific parts of the design but don’t provide a broader historical view of the feedback or decisions. If you resolve a comment, it’s gone from the visible interface, which makes it hard to track why decisions were made. Comments are always in a closed state. There needs to be an option to toggle between show latest comment/show collapsed/show none. Limited Status Tracking: Comments only have “Done” as a status, so you can’t track progress on individual items (e.g., “In Progress,” “Needs Discussion”). Need the ability to write custom statuses with custom colors You can’t categorize or add metadata to comments (e.g., “low-priority” vs. “critical” feedback), which would help prioritize responses. Hard to Find Unread/Unresolved Comments: Comments get lost in larger files with many pages and frames. You can’t easily filter comments by person, frame, or status. If someone tags multiple people or
Hi,I'm currently very actively trying to incorporate variables and conditions into our project and doing a lot of cool stuff (I'm sure some of it is truly unique). However, all my ideas hit a wall because it's impossible to bind variables to specific objects only. Since the variables are global, I can't use my unique dropdowns or inputs because I can't make them as flexible and manageable as components with variants. If you could make it possible to manage variables more flexibly, it would significantly help in prototyping unconventional things. As an example of what I mean, I'd suggest taking a look at my currency dropdown and inputs fields.
As far as I can tell everyone loves and hates autolayout. When it works, it’s magic. But it’s almost always glitchy in the wild. I think the biggest breakthrough would be to just be able to declare an “em” or percentage for the size of everything in the layout.
Hey figma people, I have a suggestion, I don't know if anyone else has already done this. When you search for a plugin and it opens you can either save or run, if you save it directly there is no problem and it shows up in the list. But if I don't know what the plugin does and I press run then it is saved as recent and it doesn't become permanent. Then I have to search for it again, press delete and search for it and save it.I would like to have the bookmark next to the plugin like in the UI and press if I want to save or delete it.
No reference for editted comments, or comment edit-historythis makes comments a very unreliable toolpeople can comment one thing one day, then edit it the other day, with no record. this can lead to real trust issues in teams. please fix. examples (whatsapp, facebook): reference for “edited” status - whatsapp web:reference for “edited” status - facebookreference for edit history - facebook desktop web
Linking modes to breakpoints and being able to adjust on the fly is a real game changer. The thing that I’m missing tho, after typography support was recently added, is the ability to also use variables on the alignment settings of typography. Is this something that is being considered?
In my Figma design file, I have used multiple libraries. Is there any plug-in or which is better way to identify used component belongs to which library? Best, Pankaj
Different than having a fully editable component instance, I would really like if there was a new object type (or maybe the frame object could be extended) so that it could serve as a fully editable space within a component. So basically when I use an instance of that component, I can populate this editable container with anything I want, and still retain the relationship to the original component (not having to detach it). My current workflow has me nesting a “content area” component instance into the a larger component (think page layout, card, modal, etc), and then creating my custom content as a separate component and doing an instance swap to get my custom content into that larger component. It’s either this, or just detaching the larger component and putting my content inside of it, which then defeats the purpose of having that larger component and then it’s just acting a template. This has bothered me for years and I searched for a solution to/request for this and can’t believe
I can’t use a number variable for stroke thickness but I need to, in order to support a particular button design. May as well make variables an option for dash and gap numbers, too.
Previously, you would hit CMD+K to insert a link. It was very easy to remember as it’s the most common. I am never going to remember Shift+CMD+U as being a link. Would rather a new keyboard shortcut was added to go to the actions menu, than repurposing one already frequently used.
It seems that only members (internals with whitelisted org-domains as mail addresses) are able to see and therefore benefit from workspaces. Which I don’t see the reason behind. As organisation admin I would somehow like to allow guests to see our workspaces aswell, as we work with a lot of external designers & developers from different agencies. We were able to observe that workspaces drastically help with navigating through our figma structure by clustering different teams based on different streams, so we would like to allow guests benefiting from that aswell.Of course this is only relevant for admins & guests of an organisation with the enterprise plan but what do you guys think of it? Am I missing something?
I wonder if there are any plans on your roadmap to enable viewing variant descriptions directly within Figma?Currently, only design system editors can see the variant library and associated descriptions, which makes it challenging for other team members to understand the purpose or intended use of specific variants. Having a way for all users—designers, developers, and stakeholders—to view variant descriptions without requiring editor access would significantly enhance collaboration, improve understanding of the design system, and reduce dependency on editors for clarification. This feature would empower teams to work more efficiently and ensure consistency in using components across projects.
Hey guys, This is a feature request. Let; say I am designing a website. I create a certain grid (column/gutter) and I start adding components, aligning them to the grid I previously created. Let’s say I have quite a few pages, all of course using that same grid. When I finish all the 20 pages of the website, let’s say the client wants to change the grid size. That means I have to resize and reposition every component on all 20 pages, it’s a huge waste of time. How about an option to “link” the components to the grid I created, so that when I change the grid size (column width, gutter width), all the components and elements resize and reposition properly based on the new grid size? It could be checkbox in the frame “Link to grid” and whatever components I size initially based on the grid, those would get resized and repositioned correctly any time I change that grid size. Thanks, Chris
I’m not really looking for solutions here. As a long time user I just want to express how I have really run out of patience with all the half-baked UI redesigns of Figma. Over the last 2 years the experience of battling to find previously obvious features has become truly dreadful. Day to day use has become a massive productivity drain, and the complex integration of questionable new functionality has eroded any previous goodwill I had for the company. All I wanted to do today was to search for a plugin, and I couldn’t even find the entry point. I know i’ve found it before, but with so many changes to the UI design I couldn’t remember where. There isn’t even any mention of it in the Figma Help site. I mean, it makes sense right? Who would be interested in an existing productivity feature or actual design tool when we’ve got all the shiny AIs to promote? Thanks to an article by Harsha Vardhan N I found the tiny indistinct button in the bottom left of the Back Stage or Home view, or What
This is the first of three features I want to suggest. When you have your spacing variables, This is what we currently see but what if we see this instead of having to go all the time to the right panel, see below: I find it so annoying and time consuming having to go to the right panel. I hope you guys can consider this, thank you!
I’ll keep it short and sweet;I’d love a feature in which it would be possible to set the height and width of an object to be changed in multiples of a set number of pixels. So if you’d increase in height your grid would remain the same.
As you all knew, if you have a variable applied to a layer, it will be displayed with full path with every group it is in, like thisExtended Design panelBut when I resize the Design panel to a narrower size, it will truncate the text at the endMinimized Design panelI feel it is time consuming every time I have to hover all the variables to make sure the correct variables are applied. In most cases, I noticed they have different names, despite of they are in same or different groups. So I wonder if it is more convenient to right align their names like this, to prioritize showing the name, not the group:
