WebGL crashing on trival tasks

Hello!

 

I have noticed recently that WebGL seems to crash when doing simple tasks in Figma, to the point that it is unusable. Figma used to work fine for me a couple of days ago, and now doing simple things such as using the color picker, moving an object slightly, zooming in on very simple files seems to make the screen black out, and WebGL will fail to load for about a minute after that. I have never had this problem until a couple of days ago, this makes me suspicious this bug was introduced in an update. I have tried clearing the website cookies, enabling override software rendering list and this has unfortunately not fixed the issue on my end. Please fix this major problem soon!

CPU: Intel Celeron N5100

Hi there!
Can you confirm if you are you experiencing this issue only in Chrome, or does it also occur in other supported browsers like Firefox, Edge, Safari, or our Desktop App?   

To help troubleshoot, could you confirm the following:

  • If this issue is only in Chrome, it could be caused by a browser extension or security app. If you have anything like that installed, I'd suggest adding our domain (*.figma.com) to any safe lists or exception lists and see of that helps to clear the issue. More details are available in our guide: Adjust your network settings
  • Is hardware acceleration enabled in your web browser? In Google Chrome, you can check this under Settings > System.
  • Are your graphics card drivers up to date? If not, we recommend downloading the latest version directly from your provider (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA).

If the issue still persists, please reach out directly to the support team by filling out this form: Submit a bug report
In your report, please use your Figma email account, include your OS details, and attach a console log capturing the issue from Chrome: Export console logs. This will help our support team investigate the issue more effectively.

(Please also note that if you are using a Chromebook, our engineering team is currently investigating an issue specifically affecting Chromebooks.

Thanks for the reply! As you mentioned, it is likely related to the fact that I am using a Chromebook. Thank you for clarifying this.
