Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with the new Figma Slides feature. When I try to copy and paste a layer from one page to another, it doesn’t go where I intend. Instead of placing the copied element on the existing slide I’m working on, it creates a brand-new slide with the contents. Is this a bug?

Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @Sue Janna Truscott , Thanks for contacting us!

I've tested copying layers between slides within a deck, and it seems to be working fine for me. Here's what I did:

  1. Open a slide deck and switch to Design mode.
  2. Select a layer in a slide and press ⌘C to copy.
  3. Select another slide and press ⌘V to paste.

I'm wondering if you've tried these steps too and are still running into this problem. If so, it would be helpful if you could tell us:

  • Does this happen in the desktop app, supported browsers (like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge), or both?
  • Does this happen with all slide decks or just one?

Could you also try these basic troubleshooting steps?

  • Browser: Force-quit your browser and reopen Figma in a new window.
  • Desktop App: Force-quit and restart the Figma desktop app.
  • If the problem persists, please try clearing the app or browser cache: Clear the Figma desktop app cache

If the issue persists after these attempts, I suggest reaching out to our support team directly here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?
When reaching out, please include the following information:

  • The email address you use for your Figma account.
  • The troubleshooting steps you tried and their outcomes.
  • If there's a specific file involved, please share its URL and add support-share@figma.com as an editor (don't worry, this won't have any impact on your billing).
  • A video capture of the issue.

Thanks for your assistance!
