Grid: accidental rotation of frame prior to adding grid and suddenly to snap resizing does not work as well

Ingchhorng_MRA

This might be seen as human error and no one is supposed to rotate the frame before designing anyway but as I accidentally found this, maybe there’s some sort of measure to ensure that this won’t be an issue.

What happen was i created a vertical frame and ironically didnt like it that way so rotated that 90 degree before proceed to create grid to test out the new features. As i added visuals, I quickly found out that the snap to grid feature does not work and it keeps show me 1x1 even if I extended to 1x2 or 2x1. (Image attached)

Maybe it’s my bad and I can simply just rotate my frame then every else in it back to 0 degree but I couldn't help but think that there might be better way? Maybe all grid features should work in all orientation or at the least we can alerted if the setup is off. Just a thought, thanks!

PS: The feature is incredible, please continue to improve it! Big fan.

Hey @Ingchhorng_MRA! First, I’m glad you’re enjoying it <3 Second, thank you for the feedback.

Let me check in with the team that’s focused on Grids to see what recommendations I can pass along. I’ll also make sure to get your feedback on orientation forwarded to them as well.

Will update once I get some info on my end.

Me again! Got more context and info for you 😀

I can confirm that right now, this is a known limitation. We won't do any snapping when resizing children of rotated grids. The way you were already working around this (rotating the grid to 0) is the best way to manage this for now.

After passing your feedback upwards, I got feedback in return from of our product managers that this is something that will be worked on as Grids develop. Can’t confirm when that would get pushed out, but it’s on the radar.

Since this is a known limitation, I’m shifting your topic to “share feedback” instead of bug report.

I hope this was helpful! Please feel free to open a new topic with any other questions.

Hello, thanks so much for the clear response. If this is a known limitation, for sure I already know the way to work around that. Looking forward to more and more updates on this feature. Thanks again!
