[FIXED] Caching issues with Figma Sites on Mac vs Web Browser

Jared B

Just playing around with Figma sites on my mac and I noticed the the preview functionality tends to hang while it’s loading or it just loads a white screen. It’s pretty common occurance and reloading the project and restarting Figma doesn’t seem to fix the problem. My work around is that I found the Figma Site web app in the browser doesn’t seem to have this same caching issue. So at the moment I run Figma sites on the mac app to do all the design work but run the preview in the the browser app as it has no issues reloading the Site preview.

Anyone else having similar issues running Figma Sites on the mac?

Hey @Euigeun Choi and everyone following along here — I checked in with our engineering team and have good news: A fix was deployed, and your site should now publish as expected. ✅

💡 If you’re still seeing issues, try the following steps to make sure everything refreshes correctly:

  1. Refresh the file tab in your browser or desktop app.
  2. Re-publish the site.
  3. Then check to see if it loads as expected.

Feel free to let me know if anything else comes up. Thanks again for your patience while we worked on this!

I published my page using Figma Make, but when I open the published URL in a browser (I've tried both Firefox and Safari), it only shows a blank white screen. It works fine in the Figma app though.

Hey @Jared B and @Euigeun Choi — really appreciate you flagging this. 🙏🏻

The blank screen issue definitely shouldn’t be happening. The teams working on Figma Make and Figma Sites are always making improvements to ensure the best performance. A few quick checks on my end that may help:

  1. Have you noticed any improvements since first reporting this?
  2. Can you confirm you’re running the latest versions of both your browser and the Figma Desktop App (currently 125.4.9)?
  3. What OS and browser are you using (including version numbers)?
  4. Does the published URL issue occur in incognito mode?

If this is still happening even after updating, it may be helpful for our Technical Quality team to take a closer look into the file settings. To get that started, please fill out this form and include:

  • a link to the file where this is happening
  • edit access granted to support-share@figma.com
  • the URL that’s not loading as expected.

Let us know how it goes — happy to keep working through it with you!

Sorry correction, it appeared like it was ok at first and then I tried the inline preview option and it started acting up again. Trying the full screen preview is also now doing the same thin. I’ll fill out that form.

@Tom Reem just had a look now and the viewport seems to be refreshing properly on the mac app. I’m running version 125.5.6 and so far I haven’t encountered these issues.

Thanks!
