The Plugin API (and the MCP use_figma tool) can't clone or copy a node from one file into another. To reuse a screen from another file, agents have to rebuild it node by node from library components, which is slow and easy to get wrong. Please add a way to copy or import nodes from another file the user can access. I hit this using Claude Code with Figma's MCP server.

I’ve created a Figma plugin to get the state of local variables then trigger external API’s based on that state change. I’m trying to have a prototype instance of the file communicate with the Figma Plugin I created so when I click a UI element in the prototype, a variable changes which triggers an external API. Right now, there’s no way I can find to ‘listen’ for the variable state change in a prototype because it does not ‘write’ to the original variable value.

For example: I use a Card with a native slot (or the component swap method, either way). I place an instance of my custom component in that slot. I change a text property in my custom nested component. Then I go up to the parent layer and change the state of the Card (assuming it’s interactive). The text prop I set on my nested, sub-component does not persist across states. Currently, it does not!

As editor and maybe also as viewer I want to be able to see where specific components are used. So I’m basically talking about way to find instances of a component across files. There’s a plugin called “Instance Finder” but unfortunately it’s just working within one file not across. For huge design systems with multiple files and different designers working on it this is far from ideal. This idea is not new but since the other topics are closed I guess I need to open a new thread. My primary use case for FigJam is for creating flows that help me align with business partners on how we expect users to navigate our product. There are several points where it would be incredibly helpful to be able to add a link to a component that would take me (or anyone viewing my flows) directly to another component in the flow, without having to manually navigate to it. Small potatoes, but would be a big help when trying to create and walk through very large, complex flows.

It really annoys me that Figma automatically creates subfolders when you export an element that’s inside a component and has a ‘/’ naming convention. I always have to go back into the folder and delete the folders or rename everything. It would be great to have a simple checkbox toggle in the exports panel to enable/disable creating subfolders, similar to Illustrator.

Hello!It would be great to have the variables popout into a separate window, not be forced as a floating window within the work space.I work around this by opening my DS in two windows and placing them side by side, but it seems like a bit of a silly work around for something that could be done with a single button click.Thanks!

I am using Figma from almost 2 years. It’s a great tool. Previously I was using Windows 10 yet recently switched to Linux(Ubuntu). Figma doesn’t have any official release for Linux. There are some Unofficial desktop versions but they are “BUGGY”. I request you guys to release an official Figma desktop app for Linux.

When using Figma on the web with an iPad it appears that I cannot delete a file. On computer this is triggered by right clicking. Long press works on iPad within the Figma interface but it does not work in the file selector. Instead what pops up is the prompt to save the thumbnail image.  I would like to request that the team prevent a long-press image save dialogue and instead give the option to the delete the file, or create an on screen button to manage file settings.   

Absolutely love the ability to move items from one page to another. It would be a massive improvement if the items that are moved didn’t stack on top of one another, sometimes creating a mess of a pile. Certainly don’t expect it to be organized, but not stacking would be a massive improvement.Thank you for all the work!

The New UI changed the keyboard shortcut for creating a link in text. Command+K is the universal keyboard shortcut for adding a link and changing it to shift+command+U severely slows down my workflow. For many designers and copywriters, command+K is muscle memory, and swapping this adds unnecessary confusion. Can you please change the keyboard shortcut back, or allow users to customize their shortcuts? Switching any keyboard shortcuts out is extremely frustrating to designers who rely on using them to save time in their daily workflow.

Hi Figma-Team,I’d love to see an option to highlight text within Specs, ideally with support for custom colors.(For text highlights, the text color should adapt automatically to ensure accessibility: white text on dark backgrounds and black text on light backgrounds.)Custom text colors would be great as well. Figma’s file browser always resets the sorting to Last modified, even after I select Alphabetical. This happens when I refresh the page, reopen Figma, or navigate between folders.This makes it difficult to create and maintain an intentional folder structure. For example, our folders are numbered to communicate a clear hierarchy:01 Websites02 Campaigns03 Pitch decks04 BrainstormsThis structure only works when the folders are displayed alphabetically. When Figma automatically switches back to “Last modified,” the order changes whenever somebody edits something, and the carefully designed structure is lost.Please either: Remember the user’s most recently selected sorting option, or Add a setting that lets users choose a default sorting method. Ideally, the preference could be saved globally or individually for each folder, since different contexts may benefit from different sorting methods.

I work as a content strategist for a marketing and research firm and we use prototypes as presentations often. Our deliverables are best formatted in a Figma file which is why we used prototype mode presentations as opposed to a Figma Slides presentation. Is there any tool or plug-in that allows for presenter notes to be displayed with a Figma prototype presentation (similar to how Slides has a prompter that shows presentation notes and changes with the slides)?

I’ve been looking into how I can leverage the new MCP server functionality in my design-to-dev handover process, but have been struggling with a few issues.As a means of speeding up my web design process, I have created singular components (no variants) that use variables for spacing, typography etc. These variables relate to modes like Wide Desktop, Desktop, Tablet, Mobile. My idea is that I’d like the MCP to read the singular component and be able to extract all the variables information across all modes and map those values to Tailwind classes (such as pt-4 md:pt-6 lg:pt-8 etc..) With a fair bit of back-and-forth, I’ve been able to recreate a passable version of my designs, but only for a single instance - this using variables from the default/first variable mode. So it’s not ideal to select one frame/screensize at a time and prompt the agent to recreate it - the code output can get messy pretty quickly.Do we know if there if Figma have release plan for the MCP to be able to read mu

Today I tried to search a file in Figma and discovered that the search-by-team filter has been removed. We are part of a large organization and do all our work within one team folder; without the ability to narrow down my search to our specific team, we’ve essentially lost search. If there’s no room in the universal-search filters anymore, maybe offer a separate search function at the team level? Please bring our search back! I don’t want to have to go back to scanning files manually within folders for 2+ years worth of work.

It would be amazing if you added a feature that allowed teammates on an enterprise plan to be able to transfer or gift tokens to their teammates. Everyone has different token needs and those could vary from month to month. If I am not using some of my allotted tokens for a given month I would love to be able to give those to a teammate that might be needing more tokens for that month. Then if I needed some the following month they might be able to give some to me.

My team and I are currently having the inconvenience of having to publish our library every single time we make even a small change (like a font size increase, color change, etc.) and then switching to the working file and manually updating the library. Due to the nature of the project we do this quite frequently and having to publish – switch file – update every single time to see the changes in our designs turns out very time consuming if you add it up. It would be amazing if Figma could integrate a shortcut for automatically updating a library and automatically updating the files it is being used on (like a cmmd+S shortcut!), of course not everybody might want to have this so it would also be nice to be able to turn this shortcut on and off.

String variables in Figma currently work as full replacements — a text layer can be bound to one string variable, and its entire content becomes that variable's value. There's no way to embed a variable within a longer static string, like "Welcome back, [$username]" or "Order #[$orderNumber] confirmed".Supporting inline variable interpolation in text layers — similar to how template literals work in code — would make it far more practical to prototype dynamic content and reduce the need to split text into multiple layers just to inject a variable value.

I’d love to be able to disable all interaction with a video in Presentation Mode.This is so that a large video does not impede the viewer from advancing to the next slide by playing/pausing the video on click.Right now for any large videos / video backgrounds, I have to create a 0% opacity text link over the entire video to ensure it advances to the next page when clients click it.
