Hello!

I am using the Slides feature from Figma and I cannot see the layers panel on the left side as I was able before. I am using the desktop app for Windows, and I am in design mode and the panel is not visible. However, if I access Figma from the browser I can see it there.

I started having this issue last Thursday. I could see the layer panel before.

Thanks for you help! 🙂

Hey @Ignacio_Aristondo, thank you for reaching out!

I’ve just reproduced this on my end and I don’t seem to experience this issue.
Can you please Force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it. Also, can you try clearing out your cached files and see if that helps? Please follow these steps: Clear desktop app cache

Can you also confirm if your desktop app is running on the latest OS?

Please let us know if clearing the cache resolved the issue? Happy to help further.

Hi @Gayani_S, this solved my issue, thank you.

I still do not have the latest Figma. I can see the new layout of the app but only for Slides. For design files I still have the old OS. Do you know how can I update my OS??

Thanks again!

Hey @Ignacio_Aristondo, glad to hear it solved your issue!

Can you confirm what OS you are using? If you are not on the latest version, a message will display in the app prompting you to update.

I’d recommend to reinstall the Figma desktop app to upgrade to the supported version. There’s no way to prompt an update. If you’re unsure if you’re on the latest version, your best option is uninstalling and reinstalling.

I will also recommend checking out Help Center article for more information: Guide to the Figma desktop app

Thanks,
Gayani

I am using Windows, and my Figma version is 124.3.2.

I do not know if this is the latest version, but it does not show the side panels as per the new Figma, but the old one.

Hey @Ignacio_Aristondo, apologies I might have misunderstood this.

Figma version 124.3.2. seems to be the current version.
You’ve confirmed that your issue got resolved and now you’re able to view the layers panels in Figma slides in design mode. Can you show me screenshots of what you’re on your end when you mean “it does not show the side panels as per the new Figma”

Also can you explain me what you meant by this “I can see the new layout of the app but only for Slides”.

It would be helpful if you can include screenshots.

Appreciate your help!

Here are some screenshots of my workspace. As you can see, for Figma design files I do not see the new UI layout (ex. tools on the top left corner of the canvas). However, for Figma slides I do see the new UI layout, with the tools on the bottom of the screen.

Hey @Ignacio_Aristondo, thanks for confirming this and sharing the screenshots with me!

Can you please confirm if you’ve already received a notification to explore the new UI from Figma? If so, please check if you’re logged in with your Figma account where you’ve been granted access to the new UI?

If you haven’t received a notification yet, Figma will send you a notification when it’s your turn to explore the new UI. Unfortunately, we are not able to manually add anyone to the UI3 or Figma AI betas at this time.

However, UI3 and Figma AI are now rolling out gradually to all users over the coming months —regardless of waitlist status, plan, or seat type. You can find more information in our Help Center article: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/24919293730327-How-do-I-get-access-to-UI3-and-AI-features, so stay tuned!
