Is there any connection when you copy a component from a non-published file?

If you copy a component from a non-published file in Figma, into a different file, is there any connection with the original component?

If I make updates to the original component, will there be any updates to the copied instance living in a different file?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. If you make updates to the original component before publishing, it shouldn’t affect the copied instance in a different file. Once you publish the main component, a notification will be shown in a different file to ask if you want to apply the updates.

You can learn more about it ‌here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025508373-Publish-a-library#individual

I hope it helps, but if you have further questions, please feel free to let us know!

Thanks,
Toku
