I created a slide deck in Figma but would like to convert it into a regular Figma Design file (.fig). How can I do this without copy/pasting every slide individually?

I applied for an educator account, it said I was verified, but still has me on a free account. This is not conducive to my class. I even used my school email and again, got the verification approval. And what is with Figma not offering help/contact for issues like this stating, post it in the forum? Is this not a school friendly product? Is their support subpar? Should I be looking at another product?

It’s maddening that Auto-Layout and sticky headers are at odds with each other. Auto-Layout puts the layer that visually appears at the top of a frame behind the others in the layering order, such that setting that object to be sticky makes it get covered by the other layers as they scroll past it. Forcing you to create an entirely separate design with auto-layout disabled and the layer ordering completely inverted. This seems like a massive error.

I see the availability to update the instances of my components (via jewel on the libraries icon button). When I press the update all button. The app tells me everything is updated. Yet, the jewel persists. When trying to update the component instance with another, I get an error (pictured) How does the community deal with the instances that don’t update? I’ve tried the old reboot approach.

Hey everyone, pretty new to Figma and I can’t seem to figure this out. I’m trying to create a menu sidebar that slides over when I press my menu button. I have my button and sidebar in a component and I can get the sidebar to appear when I press the menu button using changeTo. The problem I’m having is that no matter how I arrange the sidebar in the component box, when I run my prototype, the sidebar appears right where the button is in my frame. Is there a way to set where the sidebar will appear using changeTo? Thanks!

I have a component with a background icon. That component needs to be able to scale and the icon should stay in the lower right corner: This is the component tree And this the setting of the Background Icon When I scale the original component it looks right But when I insert the component and scale it looks like this

Hi guys I’m prototyping a filtering flow that allows users to filter a list of customers based on their tags. I’ve connected the visibility of each customer row to the activation of their related tags, and selected tags are displayed with chips. My goal is that when I click the “x” on a chip, the corresponding tag filter is disabled, and the rows associated with that tag get hidden. I’ve managed to prototype all the steps except for the part where the corresponding rows are hidden. the only solution that i have come up with has been to somehow leave and come back to the page so that the visibility conditions are checked again, but it will harm the flow do you guys have any suggestions about what I can do? thanks 🙂

Hello everyone, I’m working on a draggable slider combined with tabs, and while the dragging functionality and tab-switching are both working fine, I’m facing an issue with smart animation. The problem arises when I switch tabs — for instance, when moving from “Tab 2” to “Tab 3,” the slider doesn’t animate smoothly with the transition. The motion effect is missing when using the tabs. Could anyone guide me on how to fix this and get the transitions working smoothly? For company reasons I can’t link to a file, so I’ll try my best to describe what I’m wanting to do: picture a beachball rolling across the ground. The first part of this animation is the ball repeatedly spinning 360 degrees. The second animation is that spinning ball moving from one side of the screen to the other. So here’s how I did it, and I’d love if someone can tell me where I went wrong: the spinning part is an interactive component, on “after delay” (so no trigger, it starts on its own), and it repeats. In preview this component does exactly what I want: it spins. Next, I take an instance of that spinning component and put it in another interactive component: variant 1 has the spinner instance on the left, variant 2 has the spinner instance on the right, and I smart animate between them, so that the instance moves from left to right, and back again, repeatedly. I have a design that supports Arabic and English languages and we created a component for each part of this design with LTR and RTL so that we can easily change design elements we also use sting variables to change the content of this design but we are facing a problem that we need to change the layout to adjust with select language in prototype without duplicate screen two times. Is there any way we can do this in Figma?

I have set that anybody can view my prototype. When opening it through the link the user is first directed to the figma.com page and the prototype is not opening. One has to click the link a second time to open it which is not intuitive at all. How can the prototype open without going to figma.com first?

I’m trying to select multiple difference objects within a frame. Previously I could hold shift and click on the different elements I wanted to select. Ever since this multi-edit feature came out, I’m no longer able to do that. Does anyone know how I can get my “multi-select” back?

I’m currently working on a file where multiple changes were made over a course of 2 weeks or more. I had recently updated my Figma for the latest update, after which all my changes were reverted. I checked my version history to restore these changes but none of the previous history files reflect this either. I’m currently using the free version, please help 🙂

My team encountered an issue where most of our text styles disappeared. It appears to be a bug related to this post. Tagging @ksn here since they helped out in that post. I’ve tried restoring our design system file back to previous versions and the styles still don’t show up. I’ve resigned myself to having to re-create the styles in the file.

I don’t know about you, but I go back and forth all day between my screen files and my libraries. The detection of the update has changed! I have to wait far too long to be able to apply the changes. I also have to multiply my updates to ensure that all the instances and changes are correctly distributed throughout the document. I even have to quit Figma to force it to refresh its control and propose the updates. Is there something to do ?

Hi there! Since the latest release, June 21, 2023 I can no longer create a gradient from a library color. Previously, you could select from the dropdown to switch between document colors and library colors. Now that the tabs for “custom” and “library” are separated, there is no way to choose a library color for a linear gradient if the color isn’t already in the document. Suuuuperr frustrating. Hope this is something that gets fixed! Anyone have a work around or suggestions? Appreciate it!

I lost my research file from my Figma account. I also looked at the deleted tab, but it was not there. I still have the prototype link, but every time I click, it will show, ‘Either this file doesn’t exist, or you don’t have permission to view it. Ask the file owner to verify the link and update permissions.’ The file was lost during my computer’s internet connection. Do you think that will be a cause? But that file was really important to me as it related to my final project in my academic class. Does anyone have any rationale on how to fix or restore it? Please advice.
