This is a somewhat complex issue but I’m going to explain it as simply as possible. A library has been shared with me, but since I am outside of that organization I’m not able to utilize any of the library’s components (due to Figma’s limitations on cross-organization sharing). I have copied the library and published it within my own organization but certain items are not identified as components that I am able to use in other files. These items are marked as child components (open diamond) and I don’t have acces to the master component (error of “You don’t have access to this file” when I click the “Go to main component” option). For most of these items, in the right-click menu when the item is selected, I can choose the “Create component” option that essentially creates a new master. However, if the item has a complex variant setup it wipes all of those settings clean. Is there any option to preserve the variants when creating a component from these items?

I have these 5 food groups and when I start making vegetables link it makes the whole group a link to vegetables but I want only 1 segment to link for vegetable another for fruits and etc

When I start an open session in FigJam and share the link, another user follows the link on iPad, but is required to login/signup instead of just join the session. Happens only with the iPad app. How can it be fixed?

I want to be able to draw a new shape directly within an existing mask group. So far the only way to do this is to draw the shape and drag its layer down into the mask group. Is there a better way to do this? It’s very frustrating if you have tons of layers and the mask group is somewhere in the middle of it all.

I have created an animated component, composed of 5 variants (see screenshot). Each variant animate on a delay and a ‘Smart animation’. I have placed a few instances of that Component in a single Frame and modified the delay amount of the instances. When I launch the prototype on desktop, it works perfectly fine, but when I open the same animation on my Android (Browser: Chrome), it doesn’t animate at all. So! I keep running into a problem where my animations instead of playing in preview mode the viewport jumps to the top of the page for a breif second then back to where i was… missing the animation and just seeing the end result. Please someone tell me this is just a human error and i can resolve it 🙂

Hello Figma Advocates, Can you please explain if this can be done actually? I have shared an image to explain my problem. There are 2 conditions: 1 - Artboard size 546, Auto-layout direction - Horizontal 2 - Artboard size 328, Auto-layout direction - Vertical I want to resize the artboard from 546 to 328 and the Auto-layout direction automatically changes from Horizontal to Vertical. Is there any way to do that? Or am I just dreaming? Please comment. Thanks Amit

Hi Figma team, i think i spotted a bug, i’m attaching a file :Figma – 2 Oct 24 the layer “test-group” is a group and nodenode.type returns FRAME for this. It’s quite random, by playing around and toggling between FRAME and GROUP, i’ve seen the bug disapear then reappear, hopefully, you can reproduce it. I couldn’t find my Figma version (i’m using the desktop version on windows), i think it’s fairly recent, i remember updating about 2 weeks ago, let me know how to find it if you need the precise version number. Hello all, I wonder if it is possible at all to create some sort of drag & drop prototype? I have tried using drag+ Push (up) and Smart animating layers but none really create a ‘‘drag’’ feel, its all just a click or while dragging, it does not follow a users’ mouse/finger point…I attached a image of what I would like to achieve, but no idea how, if at all 🙂 Any tips or ideas are welcome!

I am right clicking on an layer to move it to another page but the option is not showing on the menu. I am working on the web browser on Chrome 128.0. Looking forward for you help and comments 🤗

am working with a design system, using its components across several design files to create layouts. Since yesterday, I’ve encountered an issue where components in my design files display incorrect properties—specifically, they have an incorrect horizontal flow and size in auto layout. When I click on the text layer of a component, it corrects itself, displaying the right size and adjusting to the layout (filling the container as expected). The main problem is that each user has to manually click on the text layer of each component to make it display correctly. Even after I adjust a component, my colleagues still experience the same issue in their layouts and have to click on the text layer themselves to apply the auto-layout adjustment. Is it some intern bug with our design system or some current Figma bug?

Hello I just made an animation for my web design and I want to know how to add a navigation bar that appear in the top of the page and when scrolling get it fixed in the top all the time. I have to precise that I have 2 diferent nav bars, the default when it’s the top when the page apperas and a second one with a background and a shadow below (this one I want to get when scrolling). I tried many things with the help of youtube videos but didn’t get it exactly as I want. Thanks

Hello! I am trying to use the Figma agent to install fonts on my computer to later see them on the browser. I am not able to use the desktop app because my operating system is too old. I only can use Figma on browser. My question then is: What is the minimum operating system to use this Figma font installer? Thank you very much in advance for your replies 🤗

When I transition an element off frame, it leaves a temporary shadow, as in it fades out, from where it originated from, any ideas how to remove this? There’s 100% opacity set to both elements in each frame.

Hello everybody, just starting learning Figma and following the autolayer tutorial. Some how when I apply “Included in lay out” option on the avatars layout it doesn’t work. All the avatars have outside stroke. It’s maybe a bug or what am I doing wrong. Thank you

Hello. I’m looking to use the Plugin API with my Widget? My widget include multiple instances of the widget, each with a dynamic number inside. From reading the docs, it’s recommended that I use the Plugin API to manage the numbers (they will update if widgets are deleted / added). However, I’m completely stuck just creating a bridge between the widget and the plugin API. Does anybody know any resources / sample to see how it looks like (just a simple console.log would do)? Or just at least how to think about creating the bridge.

When you copy and paste a frame (a page layout eg) on the main canvas, it pops it neatly alongside the prev page so you don’t have to effing fiddle with the damn thing and it’s pretty good UX. But if you wrap frames into your godless section feature (which I have loooootttttssss of other beef with), this behaviour suddenly disappears. WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY?

my Figma education is expiring but I have not finish my coursera google ux certification?

The Petma tutorial made by Figma shows a folder of pet images that are dragged and dropped into the project. I am not able to find these images. The tutorial is here and @ 12:24 it shows the folder of images that they use. could someone please tell me where I can locate these images so I can follow along with the tutorial? Thank you.

Here is my situation: Main Button component (layout and 3 sizes) → themed Button Component (Colors) → Button Group. The button group also has three sizes, the buttons placed in the Group component are set accordingly. Now when I change a button within the button group to a different color (variant of Themed Button) everything is fine UNTIL I change the size of the button group component then the label is set to default. It doesn’t matter if I set a Property on the label in the Main button component or not. All layers are named correctly (triple checked)

I’ve seen a lot of examples where people have built a primitive tokens variable collection of colors. But is that the design element I’d use primitive tokens for? Could be be used for type, spacing, or anything else?
