Hello, I’m rather new to Figma and currently learning about creating conditional interactions.

It works as intended if I don’t add a hover interaction.

works

However, once I add a hover interaction, it no longer works and the image revert to the default look. The hover interaction works, but clicking gets…strange?

no work

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I’m approaching this wrong and the foundation of my knowledge with prototyping has holes in it. Maybe I overlooked something.

Here’s the link to the components. Link to Figma File. Thank you!

I got tons of issues while combining both component event and instant event. Actions for these events also conflict. Especially, issues become worse, if events and actions applied for nested components.

I tested and figure out that:

  • If only using action Set variable and no While hovering effect. It’s fine.

  • If I use both, but without nested component, and 1 variable. It’s fine.

If everything is mixed, below issued will happen:

  • Text of component can’t be overridden (all layer names are set properly).

  • Hovering state of all components (if available) are still when mouse leaves.

  • Prototype is running so slowly.

  • Delay of setting variable, example when I click button and set color variable for a component.

  • When I click quickly among components, variables are set incorrectly. I think because of the delay.

I don’t know if there are any secrets about using event and variables. But I see, Variables seemly support design system but prototype. I expected variables will help create prototype easier, but until now I see it is not helpful in my real project.
