Figma must alert the organization administrator when there is a change of editors, because as they do today, the account arrives as a surprise.
Just today Figma charged me an invoice containing 2 Figma Jam, and 2 Figma editors. I don’t remember authorizing such actions, I signed Figma just for myself as an editor, out of nowhere comes an invoice 4x higher than expected.
It gave the impression that Figma was stealing from me.
They urgently need to improve transparency!
Hi Lucas!
Sorry for the confusion. If you are an admin, you can set up email notifications to keep track of who has upgraded and what action led to their upgrade.
You can get notified when people upgrade to an editor role.
For Professional plan:
To set up email notifications for upgraded seats:
- From the file browser, click the Admin Console icon on your team.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Under the Billing notifications section, click New editor notifications.
- Select one, or both, from the Daily or Weekly options:
- Daily: Get an email every day listing new editors from the previous day.
- Weekly: Get an email every Monday listing new editors from the last Monday to Sunday period.
- Choose whether to send emails to all admins on the team or only certain admins.
- Click Save.
Organization and Enterprise plan:
To set up email notifications for upgraded seats:
- From the file browser, click Admin settings.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Under the Billing section, click New editor notifications.
- Select one, or both, from the Daily or Monthly options:
- Daily: Get an email every day listing new editors from the previous day.
- Monthly: Get an email on the first day of the month listing new editors for the previous month.
- Choose who should get notified:
- All admins: All organisation admins
- Specific admins: You can select which organization admins to notify. If you start typing someone’s name and they don’t show up, consider double-checking whether they are an organization admin.
- Click Save.
Hope it helps!
@Celine_Figma How do we get refunded for these unauthorized additions? My company learned we were getting billed but were not notified that any status or amount was changed. It’s very troubling that this is a component of using your platform and that we are not informed as a standard. At least one admin should receive a notification as a standard operation of your tools. Please let me know how this can be resolved. Thx.
Hi @Kelly_Strodl, so sorry for any billing issues! This usually happens because there are added seats outside the original annual agreement.
In order to avoid unexpected editors, if you are an admin, you can set up email notifications to keep track of who has upgraded and what action led to their upgrade. You can have more information here:

For the refund, please reach out to the support team directly via this form for help: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new as we’re not equipped to handle billing issues here on the Forum. Thank you!
Hi all,
@Celine_Figma “Sorry for the confusion” 😃
Figma is great but not flawless. You too can come up with dark patterns.
Allowing/giving edit rights to an email address results in buying a new seat in Lucas’s organization?! Mindblowing. Not cool.
“Allowing them to eat at my table does not mean that I am paying for their food.”
If someone wants to expand his party, wants to buy Figma licenses for his new employees/teammates - Lucas knows how to upgrade.
It is unacceptable for the best UX/UI tool to have such a low customer experience.
Godspeed,
Pete
The notifications work fine.
The dark pattern - still present. If we follow your logic, if someone asks for edit rights, and admin allows it, that will automatically result in buying them a seat.
Feel free not to answer, I am not looking for conversation. I have lost enough money and time today.
Frustrating experience. C’est La Vie
