It would be nice if you could change a section into a group or a frame, for when you don’t need a section anymore, or you have created one and changed your mind later. Or maybe we could have an Unsection action instead, similar to Ungroup.

Everything you describe is already available in Figma.
Main menu › Object › Convert to frame
Right-click › Convert to frame
Quick actions › Convert to frame
Or select Frame from the Design panel.
