Cannot use cmd+K to hyperlink in-line text in comments

Before today’s update, you would be able to select text within a comment and press cmd+K to paste a URL, turning the selected text into a hyperlink. As of today, looks like this feature no longer works - hitting cmd+K with the comments open just opens up the “Quick actions” pane.

Looking at the Figma learn documentation, this shortcut is still listed so I’m assuming it might be a bug to fix.

Hi @Jayson2, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this.

In UI3, the shortcut for adding links to text is as below. I tested on my end, and it’s working as expected on a comment as well. Could you please give the following shortcut a try?

To open the link input box above the selected text:

  • Mac: ⇧ Shift + ⌘ Command + U
  • Windows: Shift + Control + U

We understand that you prefer “⌘ Command+K”, and our product team is already aware of that preference. And, I noticed that we already have existing feature request post at Command+K no longer creates text link. We’d like to gauge the community’s response to this idea.

Also, thank you for pointing out our Help Center article at Add comments to files - Add text styling to comments.
As this article is not available for both the UI2 and the UI3 currently, if you’re using UI3, some parts of the article may not align with what you currently see in the product, as indicated by the banner on the page top. Sorry for any confusion it may have caused, and I’ll pass your feedback along to our team.

In the meantime, please refer to the article below. This article is available for both the UI2 and the UI3.

Once again, thank you for your valuable input.

Thanks for the tip! I was aware of this shortcut on the artboard, but didn’t realize it worked for comments as well. This will definitely come in handy.

A post was split to a new topic: Adding in a “link” icon in the comments pane
