Command+K no longer creates text link

The New UI changed the keyboard shortcut for creating a link in text. Command+K is the universal keyboard shortcut for adding a link and changing it to shift+command+U severely slows down my workflow. For many designers and copywriters, command+K is muscle memory, and swapping this adds unnecessary confusion.

Can you please change the keyboard shortcut back, or allow users to customize their shortcuts? Switching any keyboard shortcuts out is extremely frustrating to designers who rely on using them to save time in their daily workflow.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback on Command + K! It’s in our radar, we will pass it along to our team for consideration.

Hi Celine, what was the reason for the initial change? I am puzzled by the UI changes; it is true that you are enhancing the platform. Some things are best left unaltered, as they complicate the work process.

There are a handful of shortcut commands that should be considered off limits, and CMD + K should be on that list for all the reasons stated by @Grace_Meroff above. It is universal and I imagine a large portion of Figma users use this command every day. Please fix this.

I agree with what others have shared. cmd-k is such an ingrained part of the workflow across Mac apps that I have a hard time remembering that it won’t work in Figma. Every time I need to pause and look up the new shortcut.

This has to be fallout from the Adobe purchase. Back in the day, every Photoshop release changed the most-used shortcuts to whatever new feature had been added…
