Unable to get profile from google

hanyi_zhang

I’m unable to log in on my Windows Figma desktop app, it says “unable to get profile from google”.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

I could solve this problem doing:

  • Open Desktop App
  • Before log in, go to Help menu and click on Log Out
  • Try to log in again
  • Voilà

When I try to Sign in trough my Google account by clicking on the button Continue with Google.

It seems there is only one way to do that:
Open a new Browser window as incognito mode (or shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+N) and try to Sign in again.

Verified with:
Google Chrome 96.0.4664.45,
under Windows 10

Premise:

  • Cache cleared
  • Cookies deleted
  • Google Chrome restarted

Hey @hanyi_zhang @Yurii_Mizin,

Are you both still having trouble? What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

  • clearing your desktop app’s cache
  • un-installing and re-installing the desktop app

LUCAS_NATERO

I have the same problem. Uninstalling and installing again didn’t solve it.

Dennis_Duhme

same problem, can’t login on my Mac(Monterey 12.3) Figma Desktop App, but it works in the browser. Un-installing and re-installing didn’t work either

Been having the same issue for a while here.

The moment the “login with google” button is clicked, the orange text Unable to get profile information from Google comes up, even before the google SSO login has finished loading.

  • Tried in Chrome 90 (disabled ad blocker and AV extension)
  • Tried changing default browser to firefox - same issue
  • Tried disabling system AV

Running Win 11.

hanyi_zhang

Issue remains.

Here is a sollution maybe it will work for you as well.

  1. goto Figma and log in the browser
  2. click on the button GET DESKTOP APP
  3. reinstall APP
  4. you will get a message log in with the browser so do it.
  5. now your desktop app is logged in with your acc.

tried a lot of the sollutions above this ones did the trick for me.

I managed to solve this problem by doing the following.

  • Open the figma app on Desktop.
  • Instead of google login, login via email by putting your gmail account as the email and click on forgot password.
  • A password link will be generated to reset the password.
  • Once reset, login using the email and password in the desktop application.
  • You should be able to open the application now.

Try this after un-installing and reinstalling the deskyop app.

Still having this issue. I can solve it but I have to do one or all of the above every morning I start Figma

Sodiq_Lasisi

I just solved mine, it seems, the new Figma update wants you to have a password rather than use Google, (I might be wrong), I solved mine by using the reset password button, then using a password for my account, no more using “Login with Google”
