In order to actually build real responsive layouts in Figma, we need the ability to change the direction of auto layouts in instances. I can make a desktop layout with auto layouts, but when I shrink it down to mobile size, I need the variant to no longer place items horizontally across the page. I cannot change the layout direction so this is impossible with Figma today and instead I have to detach the instance and manually switch the direction. Once I do that, my content is now a duplicate of the original and if I make changes to the master I will have to maintain another version of the same content. This makes making layouts for mobile apps that require tablet (portrait and landscap) and mobile phones in the same component as well as desktop responsive.
This doesn’t seem like it would be a hard thing to make work in Figma.
