I thought the default variant would be defined by the order in the properties but doesn’t seem so?

  • It is not the 1st property on the list
  • It is not the first layer on the artboard

The default variant is the top left component in the component set. You can find some details here: How to set defaults / precedence of variants with multiple properties?.

Could you share details? You can describe the issue in detail and also attach screenshots or videos, because right now it is impossible to understand what is happening on your side.
