Is there a way to supply markdown for a component description using the plugin API?

I am using this API: description | Plugin API

I tried to supply MD formmated string but is is ignored. I am asking because in the UI it seems that we have controlls for text formatting.

Today this is still impossible. There is already a request on the forum, which, by the way, you have already voted for: API to include rich formatting for component description.
