Unlinked Instance

Although I removed library component, it still alive in assets panel in files using library. Why?

i tried to remove it (to restore and re-delete component again), but it still there.
it seems like ghost/zombie component that never can be removed.

Hey there,
To share a bit more context, these ‘ghost components’ are usually a sign that there’s an instance in the file still attached to the old component. I assume you’re seeing these components under the ‘Used in this file’ section in the Assets panel. If so, could you try these steps for any ‘ghost components’ you’re seeing in the Assets panel?

For each page in the file:

  1. Drag in an Instance from the ‘Used in this file’ section of the Assets panel.
If this generates an error this usually indicates that the original component has been deleted — you will need to manually locate the instance by checking all instances with a similar appearance or recover the deleted library file or deleted main component to use this flow.
  2. Select the instance you just added and use the 'Quick Action menu (Command + / on Mac or Control + / on Windows) to ‘Select all with same Instance’.
  3. If you find any Instances which are selected, then detach or swap them with the correct library instance.

Once the instances are removed from the file, this will remove them from the ‘Used in this file’ list and search.

If you try this flow and can’t find any instances which are incorrectly attached, or have trouble with any of the steps, please reach out directly to the support team with a URL of your file, so they can try to replicate it, by filling this form here.

Be sure to use your Figma email account, include the link of your file and add support-share@figma.com as an editor to the main file (this won’t affect your billing at all) and send through the name and screenshots of any of these ghost components so the team can take a closer look. Thank you!
