Specify center of rotation

Is it possible to specify an objects center of rotation.
I cant for the life of me find it anywhere.

You could do this relatively easy in sketch.

No, it’s not possible. You can wrap objects in a frame with the center in the necessary coordinates and rotate the frame.

This is a temporary solution to solve the problem, but not a way intuitive.
Hope Figma could launch a feature to set the origin of rotation. It will helps a lot when drawing icons.

There is a plugin to Change the Origin of Rotation by Andreslav Kozlov, but it can be a bit tricky to get right if you come back to try and rerotate an object in the middle of an animation later. Point of rotation is a very simple feature that should be native to Figma. It’s a huge factor for micro-interactions and animations that has been around since the early days of Flash and is in virtually all vector based and non-vector-based prototyping and animation software. PLEASE ADD THIS ASAP!!!

Replying to keep this alive. I also support this. This should be a core feature of Figma. Please add!

Thanks for chiming in, @Theodora_Foien!

We’ve updated this topic to a feature request, so we can gauge interest from the community & pass it along to our developers for future consideration. Don’t forget to Vote! :point_up_2:

@dvaliao Any chance you could link to the feature request? I would like this feature as well it would greatly simplify being able to export SVG layers for the purpose of animation.

Yes please, @dvaliao! :pray:t2: Better rotate and mirror tools are super needed for vector work. We should be able to specify origin for both actions. Illustrator has a pretty good solution for this.

I watch a Figma presentation at Boston University yesterday, and was amazed at how effortless it appeared. Today I tried to make my first mockup, a gauge cluster, and came crashing into this lack of feature. I tried several plugins-- the Rotate Origin plugin was most promising but is badly broken and yields highly inconsistent result–, before finding this thread. So there seems to be no trivial, joyful, way to make something as simple as a line which rotates around an arbitrary origin.

I’m sure there are creative workarounds, but as this was my first usage of Figma, I’m not particularly keen on investing in those from the beginning. Being able to define a center of a transformation is-- or at least should be-- extremely low-hanging fruit.

Yes please, this really should be a feature

Did you find the link by any chance?

Ah I guess we can just vote on top of the page

Voted, I can’t believe this is actually missing from Figma.

Need this functionality ASAP!

i’m really surprised and dissapointed  This is a highly essential feature for me. And i needed now :frowning:

WOW! Figma doesn’t have a rotation origin point? This is crucial! No design is made without origin points… So dissapointed

From March 2021 and still nothing… well

Seems like a basic feature missing

This would save me so much time, its a basic feature and is a MUST to include. @Figma_Moderation can you please get this raised for inclusion on your roadmap?

Just 48 Votes? :face_with_peeking_eye:

So waiting it is.
