I’m currently working on a file where multiple changes were made over a course of 2 weeks or more. I had recently updated my Figma for the latest update, after which all my changes were reverted. I checked my version history to restore these changes but none of the previous history files reflect this either. I’m currently using the free version, please help
Hey there, thanks for reaching out to the community.
This looks odd With a Starter plan, you should be able to view 30 days of a file’s version history. (In order to clarify, the 30 day version history refers to the period of time that’s available in your Version History that you can revert to. Your work won’t disappear, but you won’t be able to see past versions that are older than a month.)
- Can you please share a screenshot / video of what you see on your end when you check the version history?
As a reminder, to access a file’s version history, you will need to have at least can view access to the file.
Access a file’s version history from the file name menu:
- Click on an empty spot in the canvas to deselect any layers.
- In the toolbar, click the next to the file name.
- Select Show Version History from the options.
- Figma will show the file’s version history in the right sidebar.
- As a workaround, if using the Desktop application, please try to clear you cache:
Here’s how to clear the desktop app cache on a Mac:
- Quit the Figma desktop app
- Open Terminal.app and enter the following command:
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma/"{Desktop,DesktopProfile}
- Try opening the desktop app again
Here’s how to clear the desktop app cache on Windows:
- Close the Figma desktop app
- Open the Start menu, and paste in this, followed by enter:
%APPDATA%\Figma
- In the window that opens, delete the
Desktop
andDesktopProfile
folders if they exist - Launch the desktop app again
- If the issue is still ongoing after this, please share the URL of the file here so we can try to replicate. Please also invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission (as an Editor) so we can have a deeper look at it. (If you are not able, we can create a ticket on your behalf to the support team directly so they can investigate). Thank you!
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tried following the steps, detailed in your message above but it hasn’t resolved the issue.
I’m attaching the file link as well as the prototype link to show the missing changes that are reflected in the prototype line but not in the source file. Also adding in [support-share@Figma.com so they can have a closer look.

Thanks for the assistance
Hi there!
I am not sure to see the difference (missing changes) between the source file and prototype link here. Can you please clarify?
After checking your version history in your Figma file (the source link), the most recent auto save version you can restore here is from 22 September, 3;02 AM. (by clicking in the date> 'duplicate")
I would also advise you to look at the other 27 autosave versions from 22 September to 4 September available to check which version will suit you the best.
Here is our guide on how to use the version history feature:
I hope this helps!
Hi, so I had previously made changes to text, graphics and colour in the file. For a comparison example, between the source file and the prototype, have a look at pages A4 - 7 (text copy and color is different in the prototype compared to the source file), A4 -16 (labels such Table 3, Figure 6 is visible in the prototype but not reflected in the source file).
I had made these changes days prior to the current version at the moment but none of the changes are saved in either the current source file version or the previous ones.
I am able to see the changes made by me in the prototype but none of the changes made are visible in the source file unfortunately. For now, I’ve created a duplicate file but I will have to replicate all the changes shown in the prototype which is really difficult to do so.

Thanks for the details! Hmm this is odd. If I understand well, you are having an issue with your pages in the source file and the prototype that don’t have same rendering, correct?
I’ve checked on the source file and the prototype, and it works on my end.
Please see the screenshot below (source file vs prototype):

Can you please share a quick screenshot or video recording so we can better visualise and understand your issue? (As I am not able to reproduce your issue)
-
Can you also confirm if it is it happening on browser, desktop app or both? And have you try to clear out the cache (if it happens only on desktop app) , then force-quit as mentioned in my first reply to see if that helps?
For your information, GPUs have known bugs and may cause rendering glitches when using Figma. I will also recommend you to check the Figma browser requirements: here
If this still doesn’t help, I can redirect you to the support team directly for further investigation. Thank you
