We recently renamed some library components (from lower to sentence case and others in name) and we’re seeing evidence where files consuming those library components are being orphaned. Meaning Figma is treating the renamed component as an entirely new component and the consuming file is converting the previously linked component to a local one. Selecting “go to main component” will take you to the library file and prompt you to restore the missing component.
This sounds like a pretty serious bug to me. Or is it meant to work this way?
Hi there! This sounds weird. When someone publishes an update to a main component, style, or variable in a library, Figma makes the updates available in every file where the component, style, or variable is used. (Here an help center article how to review and accept library updates to give you some context: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039234193-Review-and-accept-library-updates__)
I would also suggest you to reach out directly to the support team with the main file (where you have the main library) and a file that’s been affected, so they can investigate it further here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Be sure to use your Figma account email, include links to the files, and share it with email@example.com so they can take a closer look. Thank you
