Need to Rollback a team from Education plan

So, I was collaborating with my friends for an event and needed a few extra pages. I decided to get the education plan but didn’t know that it would impact my friends too. Now they aren’t able to use the file because they can’t verify their student email ID since their college (including mine) didn’t provide us with one. I don’t know why it’s asking them for a student email ID when it didn’t ask me during the process. I’d like to know how I could roll back to “not having an education plan” for the file, as I’ve tried moving it to another “free” team, but it just won’t let me do it. I can also duplicate the pages but I’d not like to lose the version history…

Hey @HTM, thank you for reaching out!

Regarding your first question “I don’t know why it’s asking them for a student email ID”, when inviting students, educators, and other collaborators to your team, new team members have seven days to verify their email address and education status. After seven days, Figma will restrict their access to the team and they will need to manually verify their education status.

Before canceling or downgrading your education plan, there are a few things you’ll need to do to make sure you’re not locked out of those files:

  • Move up to three Figma design and three FigJam files into one project
  • Remove extra projects
  • Move files to another team or to your drafts

Team owners and admins can cancel the Professional plan by opening the admin console next to the team name, then switching to the team’s Settings tab. Once you confirm, your plan will remain active through the period you’ve paid for, and will automatically downgrade to the free Starter plan on your next billing date.

You can find additional information about managing and canceling a plan in our Help Center: Cancel a Professional plan

You’ve mentioned that you’re having issues with moving your files. Please check out this Help Center article Move a file and let me know if these steps work for you.

Thanks,
Gayani
