Explanation When creating a component, with variable text as a property and filling its text with 2+ token variables (with 2+ modes) sourced from “local variables”. Instances with text variants (different text content) break on a “local variables” mode change, resetting its text content to the component property default & forcing it to stay that way (unable to change) Replicate Create 2 local variable with 2 modes Create a component with text (text content as a proeprty of Component) Make text from component have different colors sourced from variable of step 1 Create an instance and change its text content Change variable mode (at instance “Appearance” design section) Text Content gets resetted to orginal component default property & its unable to change Example
Hi! I currently use “Professional” plan, and I purchased 2 seats, for me and my developer. My question is - Should we both have “Professional” plan so that my developer will have access to my drafts(with all the Properties visible, etc.)? Or I can just have the “Professional” plan for myself and give my developer editing rights? Or may be my developer should be on the “Professional” plan (and have access to all Properties), while I stay on the basic plan? Just trying to figure out the best option. Thank you!
One of the last remaining pain points that I encounter in most of my projects when trying to set up components to be responsive across devices, is needing to be able to define a fixed aspect ratio for responsive images. For example say I’m creating an instagram or youtube feed where the images/videos are 1x1 or 16x9, It would be great if we could lock the image layers aspect ratio to that. Unfortunately in the current state there is no way to have those images retain their aspect ratio’s on a responsive screen by using the fill property or left and right constraints, it would be amazing if responsive components respected a locked aspect ratio (or something similar) on shape/image layers so image/video heavy designs could be more accurately responsive.
Hello everyone, I’ve created icons, all vector layers with the same name, and every icon has a variant of sizes - small (16px) medium (24)and large (32). They also have round/sharp Boolean property. I’ve created buttons, also with size variants with matching names and sizes. There’s also variant for only label, only icon, left icon and right icon. There’s also instance swap for every icon size. I also have the icon as nested instance. So I take an instance of the button and I change its size, then I change the icon - lets say from “search” to “plus” for example - but if I want to change the size of the button, the instance swap return to its default icon instance. What should I do, or what did I do wrong?
Hey guys, This is a feature request. Let; say I am designing a website. I create a certain grid (column/gutter) and I start adding components, aligning them to the grid I previously created. Let’s say I have quite a few pages, all of course using that same grid. When I finish all the 20 pages of the website, let’s say the client wants to change the grid size. That means I have to resize and reposition every component on all 20 pages, it’s a huge waste of time. How about an option to “link” the components to the grid I created, so that when I change the grid size (column width, gutter width), all the components and elements resize and reposition properly based on the new grid size? It could be checkbox in the frame “Link to grid” and whatever components I size initially based on the grid, those would get resized and repositioned correctly any time I change that grid size. Thanks, Chris
I have one file on my account that is missing. It’s an important project. I still have the URL but it can’t be found. Trying to paste it here but Im not allowed to do that. I have searched everywhere in deleted files and so on but it just gone. Someone that could help? Catrin
I am having difficulty putting text on top of some of my images. I click on the text and choose bring to front. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. On certain images no matter how many times I click bring to front the image is always on top. Thanks!
Can we get a true aspect ratio lock when the ‘Constrain Proportions’ is on? A true aspect ratio lock means two things: When dragging on a node with ‘constrain proportions’, its width and height always stay in their original ratio no matter which direction you drag it. When resizing on the parent of a node with ‘constrain proportions’ that happens to be constrained, the node takes on the smallest of its supposed width and height, and calculates its ratio accordingly. This would be so very helpful to polygon shapes that want to stay in that shape. Consider a spider chart. When you resize its parent, you don’t want the ‘spider net’ to squish squash; neither will you want a doughnut to turn into an oval. *Resizing of the node’s parent layer is inevitable if you need responsive designs.
I have a component with a limited amount of space for text. The text will be too long in some instances and I need it to overflow to a second or third line. However, I don’t want that second or third line to always be there. How can I replicate this with Figma?
Hello! A few days ago I tried to share a FigJam to Google Classroom. I clicked “make a copy,” but when the FigJam was shared, a copy for each student had not been made; all the students were viewing the original FigJam together, which was, obviously, chaos. Another teacher with a separate account on a separate computer tried to re-share the same FigJam as a copy twice but had the exact same result. The following day, a completely different teacher in my school system - with a separate account and a separate computer - tried to share a completely different FigJam to Google Classroom and had the exact same result. It would not copy, despite clicking “make a copy.” All three of us double-checked that we were following the procedure correctly, and have successfully shared Figjams in the past using the “make a copy” function, so there was no user error. This has never occurred before, but the issue is making those Figjams unusable for our school system. Please advise.
Hi. I have a question, is it my error or is it more of a rendering of the image when prototyping? I have a project, I divided the website sections into individual frames. I then “wrapped” these frames into one large frame. They are aligned perfectly every single pixel. Unfortunately, in the prototypes view I occasionally get such a thin gray line between the frames as below in the screenshot. How to deal with this?
To begin with, I want to clarify, that I love Figma, it is literally the tool for web designers… sorry for the other aps, but Figma is, by its philosophy and its disposition, it is like that… so we have to collaborate to improve it as much as possible. The work that you team have done… pufff… is BRUTAL, you have really created something beautiful. Reflection: Well, as designers, or programmers we like Figma ❤️…we really love it… It’s a beautiful tool. Why else would we spend time learning it and come to want more sophisticated and efficient workflows to be developed? This only happens when you have exhausted all the known methods that the program itself offers you to do what you can do… What I mean by this? In summary: the main question is clearly in the title of this topic… But really… Why is it taking so long? Is there anything we as developers can do about this? Should we stop insisting on wanting specific shortcuts that will never be implemented because it is not the idea and that’
