Hello,
I create complex object, then I “group”, and “create component”.
I want to modify the component, and so to “un-component” it.
How to, because as for “group & ungroup”, there is “create component” but not “un-component” menu ?
Best regards
Hi @Francois_PION-DRANCY - short answer is that there isn’t an automatic way to “uncomponent” a main component.
You can, however, “undo” a component by:
- Creating an instance of the component
- Detaching the instance
- And then deleting the main component - once you delete the main component from the canvas, you can then publish the library update to remove that component from the Assets search
One other suggestion – there’s also a plugin called “Uncomponent”, which also undoes main components: https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/931839698966723759
Just a note if you decide to go the plugin route: the above plugin was created by a Community members, and not Figma. If you run into any issues with using the plugin, you’ll need to reach out to the plugin creator directly (their contact info can be located at the bottom right of the plugin page).
Hope this helps!
Thank you for these proposals.
My goal was in fact to modify the component, and that was not very clear to me (as beginner).
But I have discovered that I can put a new element IN the component (by drag&drop in its area), and if I want to increase its size, I need to use ctrl+mouse on the component border.
It is enough for me.
The solution with the deletion of original component imply I loose all the links between instances and component.
Best regards.
this is pretty idiotic, why not just ad the “uncomponent” feature on Figma, to be “such an trendy programe” it should have it…
