I went back to the old UI because I was trying to follow a tutorial but now I want to go back to the new UI3 layout to get familiar with it but I can’t seem to do it. I’m using an educational account.

Hey Jobert,
While UI3 is still in beta, users on paid plans, as well as users who created their account prior to June 2024, will be able to toggle back to the previous UI.
To use UI3:
- Open any Figma Design file
- Click on the “?” Help icon in the lower right corner
- Select “Use New UI (in beta)”
To return to the previous UI:
- Open any Figma Design file
- Click on the “?” Help icon in the lower right corner
- Select “Go back to previous UI”

Hi Celine, I can’t find step number 3. I used to see that “Use New UI and Go back to previous UI but it’s no there anymore.
Hey @Jobert_Monteras , this looks odd if you were able to see “Use New UI and Go back to previous UI", could you please clear cache and see if you are able to go back to UI2?

To clarify you’ve been already granted access to the new UI but you’ve switched to the old UI in the desktop app and now you want to switch back to the old UI?
Can you please confirm if you’ve already received a notification to explore the new UI from Figma? If so, please check if you’re logged in with your Figma account where you’ve been granted access to the new UI?

I haven’t been granted access yet. I never received any notification to explore the new UI. I use the Figma Mac OS app, and it seems currently up to date.

In that case, you won’t have the option to use UI3 in the Figma desktop app at this moment.
Figma will send you a notification when it’s your turn to explore the new UI. Unfortunately, we are not able to manually add anyone to the UI3 or Figma AI betas at this time.
UI3 and Figma AI are now rolling out gradually to all users over the coming months —regardless of waitlist status, plan, or seat type. You can find more information in our Help Center article: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/24919293730327-How-do-I-get-access-to-UI3-and-AI-features
