How to prevent Figma from automatically setting a layer's resize properties when I align it?

I noticed new behavior recently that automatically sets an object’s resize property to whatever align method you use (such as center if centering it), which is incredibly frustrating as it overrides the resizing I set previously. Just because I needed to center something doesn’t mean I want it to also stick to center when it comes to resizing.

How do I disable/avoid this?

Now this cannot be avoided. I think ideally there should be a modifier key to align without changing constraints.
