Figma plugin check current file size

Is it any figma function to get the file size at a given moment in time?

This question comes related to the fact that I would like to check, by plugin code, the size of the current figma file before and after detaching some components.

To see the file size of a figma file:
Open the respective figma file. There go to,
Left top Figma Icon (or main menu) > View > Resource use.

This is a fantastic tip. Thank you. I had no clue this existed natively in Figma and really needed to discover what is bloating the size of our files.

same problem here again! the Resource use is not here anymore. So is there a way to do this or a plugin? i just want to see the components and what their sizes are before exporting T_T

Hey @EmberN, sorry for the trouble!

Depending on your OS, you can use the Quick actions menu (Command + / (Mac) or Control + / (Windows). Then, search Memory usage:

Clicking on Memory usage from Quick actions will bring up Memory usage within your Layers panel, and you can click Manage memory to see a full breakdown:

@dvaliao Is there an equivalent command or menu option for FigJam files? Memory usage doesn’t show up in the Quick actions menu in FigJam

Heyo @RobKovacs! Jumping in – so there’s something similar in FigJam that may cover what you need.

One thing first: when I reviewed the suggestion I make below, I noticed that there was some buggy behavior with the information being hidden behind the floating UI3 panel, which I’ve already gotten a bug ticket filed for. Wanted to give you a heads up just in case you run into this issue.

Try the following:

Open Main Menu > View > Resource use

Would this work for you?
