Hi, I cannot locate some instances on my designs. Those instances are from an other library that are not meant to be in this file and I want to replace them with the local ones.
However when I click on their name to look for them, the “Go to instance” button is visible but not clickable (or clickable with no results).
I guess that could because the instance is locked, hidden or maybe nested in another instance.
This is very annoying to me. Thank you for reading. I hope I will find the solution asap.
Hey there, thank you for reaching out! Could you confirm whether the component is also in your file?
I recommend installing the instance finder plugin from our Community and use that to find instances. Here is a link: Instance Finder
Please let me know if the Plugin works for you to locate the instances.
Thanks for answering my question, but unfortunately your solution won’t work.
The component is in another file, containing the library which is published in the team.
Even when I put one more instance of that component in the file, the plugin still could not find the instances mentioned in the “Review Update” dialog.
Moreover, this plugin cannot find the instance that is nested in another instance but also hidden. See the example below:
I have used this plugin long before I created this topic and I know what it can do. Can you please tell be any other solution?
Hey! Thanks for clarifying and sorry that the plugin is not a help for you. I am going to check internally with the team if there are any workarounds for this, I will update you soon. Appreciate your patience!
Apologies for the delayed response, @Phu_Nguyen.
Our technical quality specialist suggested to try copying an instance from the library file, pasting it into this file and using 'Select all with same instance’. This should work at any nesting level. You’ll need to repeat this per page as selections can’t run across pages.
If this does not work, please reach out to our support team via this form. If you can please provide a direct link to the file here, and invite support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permission so we can look into this further. Note that users with @figma.com emails on your team do not count towards your billing.
Thanks,
Gayani
