Adding a Link to an Image or Vector

Hello, so I’ve noticed that I am unable to add a link to an image or a vector and can only add links to text. I am making tutorial videos within my organization and within our getting started file we want it to be so they click on the video play button (no text involved in this button) they’d be directed to the video. The hack I’ve done right now is put text behind the button so when they hover it can simulate like they’ve pressed the play button. I’ve looked up tutorial videos online and even their solve for this is similar to the text behind the image hack that I’ve used. Figma can we work on this as a feature? Would be great thank you!

Hello @josh.paris, Thank you for reaching out about this. I appreciate you providing the details!

Could you please let us know if you are using Figma Design or FigJam?

If you are using Figma Design, you may want to consider using the “Open link” prototype action for this. If you are interested in implementing this action, I recommend starting with this guide: Guide to prototyping in Figma

If you are using FigJam, there is an existing feature request for this at FigJam Linking. If it aligns with your idea, please inform us, and I can merge your post with it to enhance its visibility.

Thank you once again for sharing your input!

I am using FigJam and thanks I see the option now I think this is fine thanks!

Hi,

I am teaching a class in Figma and I want to be able to hyperlink an image without requiring the students to go into Prototype. This comes up often in the workplace where we want to be able to link out to reference materials without having to go into prototype or embed links in hard to find text fields or comments.

Thanks!

I understand Figma’s purpose at a design tool (distinct from FigJam) but being able to hyperlink any asset in Design mode would be very practical and beneficial in many messy real world scenarios where not everyone in the document is a seasoned designer.
